Tekken 6 strikes gold

Namco Bandai concludes development on latest King of Iron Fist tournament for Xbox 360, PS3 in advance of October 27 release.

Tekken 6 has cleared the last hurdle on its long road to release. Having announced the game alongside Sony's PlayStation 3 in 2005, Namco Bandai today said that development has wrapped on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 editions of Tekken 6, and the fighter has gone gold in advance of its October 27 North American release date.

Tekken 6 is meant to be seen in motion.

Namco Bandai's long-awaited competitive arcade fighter will be available in two retail configurations. The standard-edition package will retail for $59.99. Those looking to pick up a new fight stick can opt in to the Tekken 6 Wireless Fight Stick Bundle, which will be available for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 at participating retailers for $149.99. In addition to the game, the limited-edition bundle includes a Hori wireless fight stick, as well as a Tekken 6-themed art book.

Those who preorder Tekken 6 at GameStop will receive the downloadable Penny Arcade Samurai Pack. The downloadable content opens up the Cardboard Tube Samurai costume for the blade-wielding Yoshimitsu, as well as unlocks the limited-edition Samurai Battle Banners that can be applied to each of the game's 40 fighters. GameStop preorderers will also receive a Tekken 6-themed 2009-2010 calendar while supplies last.

In April, Namco Bandai said that Tekken 6 will also be coming to the PSP this fall, though the publisher did not provide an updated release window as part of today's announcement. For more on the console editions, check out GameSpot's previous coverage of Tekken 6.

How am i a fanboy when i have owned all major games consoles since 1991? From the Nes all the way to the 360? etc.. Im hardly the fanboy here.. maby you need to look in a mirror? and see that your the fanboy with your pointless facts no one cares about. Your posts are meaning less to me, I really couldnt care less what your saying. And i lost intrest in even reading your posts 3 days ago..

@thingta42 First, I've got both consoles. I'm not a "fan" of either, because each of them have their own killer exclusives. However, I am a fan of Tekken, and I do know the facts. Second, you said that the arcade board isn't a PS3, which it is. I'm just pointing out you're wrong. Which you refuse to admit. I'm not even the one who brought up the hardware issue, you did, by "correcting" somebody, even though your "facts" were unfounded, so I simply proceeded to set the record straight. But you're right. Why should I bother replying to an uninformed fanboy like you? I'm just wasting my time anyway.

How am i trolling? First off im on the 360 board for Tekken 6,, Secondly i own a 360 and it is my primary console which i love to bits.. Thirdly i preordered Tekken 6 like 2 months ago because like many i cant wait for this game.. If i was going to troll then i would go to the PS3 Board or whatever and make stupid coments and pointless Hardware facts like your doing, Your the troll not me. Go back to your PS3 Board and begone from here.

Its funny how cats be making all dat noise like they dat vicious at Tekken then a dude with a regular analog stick controller comes through and whipps they're ass in a game dat they're not a real big fan of. Damn the arcade stick I'll get mine without one to put y'all in your place and laugh while doing it.

sigh@thingta42 Whatever man. Go look up the PS3's specs. They're exactly the same as the Namco board. Only diff is that the game is on the HDD (faster loading), as opposed to the blu-ray disc on the console. But you won't look it up, because you just like to troll and post unfounded crap anyway, right? Honestly though, I don't give a s*** any which way. I hate all this fanboy peen wagging. I'll see you all online on launch day whupping all your asses, because while you lot argue about which console makes you manlier, the real Tekken players have been playing this game for the last 2-odd years.

Some people grew up playing fighting games on consoles not at the arcade. Not having a stick does not make them noobs. There are not many more arcades around anymore if at all in some cities. The stick is the same as the console specific controllers, its just a preference and an option.

Bigdaddydrei your post made me laugh in the very line "based on the Sony PlayStation 3" Yes Based.. It isnt PS3 Hardware.. Namco took the basic PS3 Hardware and evolved it. So it isnt PS3 Hardware the arcade machine uses it's own hardware..

The last time my THUMBS got sore was with Tekken 5 on the PS2.Sometimes i used stuffs to wrap my thumbs so i could keep on playing and not feel the pain........ Am excited about this game.......

@thingta42 The Tekken 6 arcade board is a PS3. "The Namco System 357 is an arcade system board based on the Sony PlayStation 3. It was released in 2007 as the board for Tekken 6.[1] Unlike its predecessor, it has not yet seen widespread adoption by other manufacturers." Specs: * CPU: Cell Broadband Engine consisting of one 3.2 GHz PowerPC-based Power Processing Element (PPE) and six Synergistic Processing Elements (SPEs). * System memory: 256MB Rambus XDR DRAM RAM * Graphics: NVIDIA G70 based RSX 'Reality Synthesizer' with 256MB GDDR3 RAM * Media: internal HDD * UI: Sony XMB[2] List of System 357 Games: * Tekken 6 * Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion * Razing Storm[3] Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namco_System_357 --- As I said: not a fanboy comment. Just a fact. Honestly though, do you people even check the details before wasting your time posting long and useless crap? Or are you all just that retarded? Also, nobody worth their salt in fighting games plays with a 360 controller. Most 360 owners who are serious about their FG's go out and buy a stick.

thingta42

Ghostbusters was Being made on the 360/ps3 but the developers used the PS3 to work with it.. That doesnt mean the 360 is a port Just means the toolkit might of been easyer on the PS3 to develop the game than than the 360.. Same with Tekken 6 Its a arcade Game ported to PS3/360 but as a Console to work on the Developers picked the PS3 over the 360.. But they were working on the 360 at the same time.. That doesnt make it a god damn port.. The Arcade version has its own hardware, Its not like the Arcade machine is going to have a ps3 inside it lol.. Cryng about How Tekken 6 is going to be on the 360 isnt going to change the *FACT* that it is going to be on the 360 before the months end, And when it does Tekken 6 series is no longer exlusive to the Playstation line of consoles.. All these fanboy wars are pointless.. If you dont like the fact its comming on the 360 then do these following things. 1. Dont come onto the 360 Section of the game and Complain thats is going to be on the 360 2. No one is forcing you to buy the damn game if you dont like it that it is on the 360(i.e buy a PS3 and get it) 3. Dont go making pointless posts how the PS3 Controller is better than the 360 for Tekken(How would you know? you havent even played both versions) And for one i think the 360 controller is great for Fighters but that is my opinion not fact.

leviathanwing

i wonder how much money microsoft makes if they continually have to buy off sony exclusive titles... and manly 360 controllers... wow compensate much?

BigDaddyDrei

Tekken 6's arcade board is actually a PS3. That's not a fanboy comment, it's a fact. However, interestingly, the arcade version is higher res than both console versions, but the console versions don't have the "transparency" slow down that the arcade version has.

skunkpants
skunkpants

@AlfaxD_Centauro Do you have proof to show that it is ported? I haven't read anywhere where it says that they ported it. Pad comfort is more personal opinion, I still think the PS3 controllers are plastic and whimpy, therefore I prefer the manlier 360 controller which is solid and has a little weight to it.

drknessfeeds
drknessfeeds

There are mod adapters to use PS3 controllers on 360 and vice versa to kill the controller argument, just be ready to shell out about $100. for the adapter and shipping and handling.

drknessfeeds
drknessfeeds

Got both systems, and have my preferences on the controllers. I like the PS3 for fighting games and the 360 for FPS, just my preference. Glad Tekken is coming to 360 though, bout time it got multiplatform release, this can only ensure a sequel and sooner than this one I hope. Tekken is my Fav fighting game, right along with the Street Fighter series (excluding the EX series .)

thingta42
thingta42

lol this game is Ported to the PS3... Aswell you know.. Tekken 6 is a Arcade Game Ported to the PS3/360 with Extra content.. Get ur facts right.

AlfaxD_Centauro
AlfaxD_Centauro

@skunkpants Wrong. The game is ported to Xbox 360. And the Pads are much comfortable on PS3. Fact. So, this is not a Fanboy, it is a fact you can't denied.

@TheArcade Garou is nowhere near Tekken 6's level. Not even close. Maybe if you brought up one of the last great KoF's, we might just have a discussion on our hands, but Garou? Nope. Also, @ZeroCell, SF3:3S is not the best fighting game of all time. SF pros know. Parry became the catalyst for making "option select" a polarizing aspect of SF3. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you still need to learn some more SF before posting. --- In every FG, there is a peak to their series. When SF2 came out, the peak was SSF2T (or ST for short - it is now called HD Remix to you kids). When VF came out, VF2 was the biggie, but the real peak was VF4:Evo. Now Tekken's peak is finally here: Tekken 6 BR (or Tekken 6 to the people who haven't played the arcade version). This is going to be this generation's best fighting game yet.

Don't forget about the SF: IV pad which can also be bought on 360, capable of improving ones controller game 10 fold. I happen to believe multi-console owners will favor Tekken 6 on the 360, Xbox LIVE community.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves would like to have a word with you. But I think Tekken 6 might even be as good as that.

majere613
majere613

Not sure where any confusion might have come from, but yes, the SFIV sticks and pads will work fine with Tekken 6. The only possible issue might be if Scenario mode requires the analog sticks, but AFAIK that isn't the case.

kavadias1981

Anticipating this game will always remind me of the joy I felt at playing Tekken 1. 3D fighters were finally possible to develop and it just blew me away. I will always remember the quality tune when fighting on top of that city skyscraper. Ah memories. And just as dye2010 commented, yeah I miss Killer Instinct as well. I pray they release the arcade versions of 1 and 2 for PSN and XBLA.

skunkpants

@armydominican69 You didn't insult me so why should I flame you? You were just saying a point. @AlfaxD_Centauro You are fanboy, you can tell that by the way you defend the ps3. Also by the way you claim that it is ported, didn't you think that maybe the developers want more people to play their games? To everyone, I still personally find the D pad on the 360 controller better as I find it more sturdier and solid, but when it comes to fighters then MAYBE the ps3 is better. Still doesn't change the fact that it smells of ps3 fannies in here.

Finally Tekken 6 is released in consoles. No more spending quarters, to play the arcade version. But does the ST:IV Joystick, works for this game? Hope so. Cause I not going to spend $150 I am going to buy PS3 version to compare to Street Fighter IV

Is it too much to ask to get a fighting game with no lighting effects on punches or kicks, but, that has a realistic damage modeling system where bones break, limbs get tired and people get concussions?
