Team Fortress 2 gets Bioshock Infinite hats

Owners of the Season Pass will get Bioshock Infinite-themed items in Team Fortress 2.

Team Fortress 2 will soon get Bioshock Infinite-themed items, developer Irrational Games announced on its blog.

The only way to get the items is to own the Bioshock Infinite Season Pass on Steam, which will give them to you at no additional cost. If you already own a Season Pass, you should receive the items soon.

The items include a Little Sister's Big Daddy Pocket Doll, "sure to add some protection from a crit or two," and two masks (hats, basically), one of President Washington and one of Benjamin Franklin as they appear in Irrational's game.

The Bioshock Infinite Season Pass costs $20, and includes the combat focused challenge mode Clash in the Clouds, new items, and the two episodes of the Burial at Sea DLC.

The second episode of Burial at Sea, which Ken Levine said will be significantly longer than its predecessor, should release in late March.

I was hoping this was about real hats.

The hats looks weird and don't give me any associations to Bioshock: Infinite, but I don't play TF2 so it doesn't matter. This whole "buy something and get TF2-related stuff" is getting old, partly because TF2 is old, but it's very limiting to just get stuff for one game. Well, adding this feature for more games would perhaps be hard and/or not suitable but this constant focus on TF2 is odd.

Well, this is certainly going to make the game better.

This game is on hat support system now.

I never understood how people can dish out $1000+ for rare hats, if you give me 1 grand..I'll draw you a picture of a hat, and you'll be receive the same value. Its unfortunate that this sort of thing is seeping into CSGO aswell with the skins and such...there are some that are being sold for $400, there is no increase to accuracy or any statistic, its purely all accesories..kinda sad.

I still play it and enjoy it sometimes. It really depends on the server, I find. Any of the Lotus Clan servers have a good deal of actual players. Though there are the occasional people spamming "anyone want to trade?"

I don't trade at all, personally. Had a bad experience with one jackass once that turned me off the whole thing. I remember one all-chat server once, there was a kid who kept asking every single player, "Hey, do you have...!?" incredibly loudly. When he got to me, I simply said very bluntly, "I don't trade," which shut him down immediately. Good times.

love tf2 and bioshock, didn't like the new hats/miscs that much.

Are there any other microtransaction based free to play games from 10 years ago getting new items in their store? I don't actually care, I'm just saying... Seems biased to just do news for TF2's microtransactions, especially since nobody even plays that game anymore except the kids addicted to trading rather than playing the game.

@Sergeant_  I totally agree with your point, but it seems like the scale is off. Unless you know something I don't.

@jimmy_russell  To my understanding there are no other Free to Play games with in game items promoting other games, so this puts it above all the others. People still play the game. You just need to find servers that aren't trade or idle.

@jimmy_russell  Not everyone just does it for the trading. I still play the game once in awhile. Not all the time, but every couple of weeks, I'll play it for a bit. it's still a fun, relatively well-balanced game.

Its alot of fun I got several hundred hour logged on it. Try it ...free on steam , why not?

@th3onewhoknocks  Yeah, this was my go-to multiplayer game for a while. It's the best one available.

Free to get into, the community is pretty great, and the customization is the best out of ANY MULTIPLAYER SHOOTER

@th3onewhoknocks  Personally, I enjoyed it a bit more back before the F2P days. But it's still not so bad and the items can be fun.

@th3onewhoknocks  It's free, go try it.

Personally it's my favorite game. I've sunk hundreds of hours into it (867 according to Steam). Super fun shooter where team work dominates all.

@th3onewhoknocks  I found it 50/50. It was okay. Didn't have a lasting appeal for me. But it has that Valve stamp on it so there is it's share of fanboys on it.

@iamllamapie If you have to throw a *sarcasm* modifier onto the end of your doge statement. Then you're REALLY doing it wrong.

@DeadPhoenix86  +1. Game was dead when Free to Play started. Nobody is "playing" TF2, they are all on trade and idle servers. It's rather pathetic, really.

jimmy_russell

@LittleMac19  At this point? Umm, no it's been like this since TF2 went free to play. It was already on life support and the virtual items attracted an addiction prone group of hoarders and narcissists.

@tightwad34 @Sergeant_  From my experience of talking to friends who sell hats/collect them. There are hats you find, or can craft or spend the money on keys to open up boxes you receive randomly by putting hours into the game. If for example you use the latter as a means of getting a rare hat, people usually either count the amount of money they spent on keys to unlocking boxes (about $1.50 a key, I dont know how much they are now, I havent played in awhile), So if it took you about $200 worth of keys to get a hat worth selling, you mark up the hat price by a small percentage so you make a profit. Or you research how much the hat is worth and is going for in an auction and adjust your price accordingly. I know my friend sold a hat for $1500. Its ridiculous if you think of it, and I have pitty for anyone who buys a hat for that amount of money.

Granted in some cases, like my friend..its more of a business rather than a collecting experience. You sell a hat for $1500, someone else buys it, they sell it for even more...and its treated like any other collectors edition item. But for those who spend that amount of money and dont seek profit afterwards, and just want the "bling" or bragging rights, its kind of sad. Same concept applies with the CSGO gun skins.

Sergeant_

@tightwad34 @Sergeant_  And with that concept of creating or finding rare hats puts a stint in the gaming experience. Sure there are "trading servers" you can go into but from my experience when the hats or any other weapon or accessory became a trade for money, the servers I did play on warped into a WoW trade channel where it was more about trying to sell things rather than playing the actual game. No one wants to be playing a control point map and having 3 players on each team spamming the chat "SELLING HAT FOR 3 METAL"..its annoying.

@ziproy @dominoodle@DeadPhoenix86

lol...not really. I just read the comments a few moments ago. you expect me to check my emails every 5 mins??? me and my friend always end up playing on servers where teamwork is never been heard of it. they blindly run around and get killed. I don't care less how many people are playing. the game is death for me. and never going to touch it again. its a matter of personal opinion ;)
