Almost a year to the day after TDK Mediactive announced that it had secured the rights to develop and publish games based on the Chevrolet license, the company has announced that will release a game currently known as Corvette on the PS2, Xbox, and GBA later this year.

The console versions of the game, which are currently in development at Steel Monkeys, will feature more than 80 different Corvette models spanning the 50 years of the car's history, and they will allow you to race on a number of different tracks and race from Chicago to LA on an obstacle-filled Route 66. There will be six different characters for you to choose from, and the game will feature a split-screen head-to-head mode should you wish to race against a friend.

The Game Boy Advance version of Corvette is being developed by Visual Impact Productions, and it will feature around 14 different Corvette models, including show cars and prototypes. The game's circuit mode will challenge you to overtake 10 other drivers starting from the back of the pack, and as you progress through the game you'll be able to unlock bonus cars and levels spanning eight different regions of the USA.

We'll bring you more information on Corvette as soon as it becomes available.
