The Australian games development scene is adding another studio to the fold, with Tantalus Interactive announcing the establishment of a brand-new studio in the suburb of Kelvin Grove, Brisbane. The office is due to open its doors for business in December this year.

Tantalus Interactive's main studio in Melbourne currently employs 70 developers. Brisbane isn't the only studio expansion the company is doing, though, with CEO Tom Crago saying: "I like the idea of capping our Melbourne base at around 80 developers. We're on track to grow to that level by next year, and in Brisbane we'll endeavor to replicate the model that's been so successful for us down here."

Crago also confirmed that the Brisbane studio already has a project lined up, but simply referred to it as "a DS title."

The Brisbane studio will be headed up by Tanalus Interactive's chief operating officer David Guile, who was promoted to the position back in July.
