The year 2000 has proved to be highly lucrative for Take-Two Interactive so far. Sales of its products since the beginning of the new millennium are up 115 percent from last year. Net income from January 1 to April 30 was over $3.3 million, compared withto $1.5 million in the same period in 1999. Industry analysts see Take-Two's acquisition of Gathering of Developers Ltd as a sign that the company is entering new territory as a major player in North American game publishing.

The fact that Take-Two has successfully developed software and hardware for the PC, the Sony PlayStation, the Nintendo 64, the Game Boy Color, the Sega Dreamcast, and the Sony PlayStation 2 is another reason for its significant growth.

"Take-Two's performance in the second quarter of 2000 in many ways signifies its most important operating strides to date," said Ryan Brant, the company's chief executive officer. "During the second quarter it continued to show growth in all segments of business, and most importantly, demonstrated that its balanced business model can thrive in a variety of different industry climates. Put simply, we continue to leverage the successes of our diverse business model into investments in next-generation gaming technologies which we believe will pave the way to an even brighter future for Take-Two."
