Take-Two Interactive has announced its acquisition of Barking Dog Studios. Barking Dog, which will be renamed Rockstar Vancouver, is responsible for beta 5 of Counter-Strike, the squad-based shooter Global Operations, and Homeworld: Cataclysm. According to the announcement, Rockstar Vancouver is already at work on one military-oriented game, and a second game is heading into development. The studio was purchased for $3 million in cash and stock.

"Barking Dog has a strong history of developing cutting-edge technology and content, with a particular strength in military action," said Sam Houser, president of Rockstar Games. "Going forward Rockstar will continue to look to its internal development studios, Rockstar North, Rockstar Vancouver, and Rockstar Toronto, for the development of premier original entertainment software content."

We'll post more details as they become available.
