Transformers Universe, the upcoming free-to-play third-person MOBA, will be available for anyone to play this weekend when the open beta kicks off tomorrow, developer Jagex has announced. All you need to do is register at the game's website and you're good to go.

The Transformers Universe open beta officially begins at 6 a.m. EDT on July 4 and will run "until further notice."

Coinciding with the arrival of the Transformers Universe open beta is the launch of the Recruit-a-Friend system. More details about this program, as well as a special competition where you could win up to $15,000 in prizes, will be announced tomorrow, July 4.

"The community throughout our closed beta period has been absolutely fantastic, providing us with great feedback," Jagex said on its website. "We're looking forward to seeing new players from all around the world join us in the ongoing faction war between the Autobots and Decepticons."

If Transformers is not your thing, but you still want to play games this holiday weekend, Rockstar Games is also holding special 4th of July Grand Theft Auto Online events.
