Table Tennis demo to smash XBL

Major Nelson reports that a free trial of Rockstar Games' Table Tennis is rallying onto Xbox Live "very, very soon."

by

Sure, Xbox 360 owners can hop onto Xbox Live and download a demo of Top Spin 2, a pro tennis simulation from 2K Games, but what about the table-variant of the sport? According to Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, fans of ping pong will get their chance soon.

After speaking with "folks that work with Rockstar," Hryb states on his blog that a demo for Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis is currently in the works, and should hit Xbox Live Marketplace "very, very soon."

Not much is known about the demo at the time, but it will support both single- and multiplayer modes. Unfortunately for those who want some truly international competition, the demo won't be Xbox Live-enabled.

Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis is rated E for Everyone and retails for $39.99. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's review.

I rented this game and it was some good fun for the 5 days that I had it, but on the final day I started getting bored of it. If I would of purchased it, I probably would have traded it in a week later lol. It is definitely worth a rent though.

I rented the full version, its a sick multiplayer game. If you have 2 controllers you're gonna have a blast. I'll pick it up when i got some more cash but its only $39.99 anyways.

I bought this game.. Played it for a few days .. I saw that it was boring gameplay.. I mean you could just be good with reflexes with the diagnol sticks and hit A everythime and thats it. Thats the gameplay... I ended up selling this game on ebay.. I dont recommend it..

I have to agree with SnuffDaddyNZ. I happen to think that certain game demos which are just one match in the game may not always be worth since you can just replay the demo.

Further proof Xbox Live rules. There is no denying the greatness of Xbox Live!:D

I wonder how long it will be before Microsoft starts requiring developers to build expiry dates into their game demos, or perhaps restrictions on the number of times a demo can be played. Because I tell you, some game demos can be so good you don't really feel the need to buy the full game, like for example the Fight Night 3 demo. For a boxing fan that game would be a must buy if one liked the demo, but for a not-so-hardcore boxing fan the demo is ample entertainment.

Why do publishers release demos after the game is released? I already have Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis so this is use to me. Please! Release demos before the games.

I've been wanting to try this out. So I'll be keeping my eye out for this demo.

Yeah I love XBL demos too...I probably wouldn't have bought Hitman if I didn't like the demo so much.

I absolutely love with a mad insane passion the fact that I can download demos for so many popular games on 360. I already bought 3 games that I probably wouldn't have if I didn't try the demo first. Keep them coming and to any publishers out there- KEEP EM COMIN OR GET LEFT IN THE DUST

TT is a pretty solid game, but I'm wondering if the demo will leave people NOT wanting more. There's not that many features in the game, they're gonna have to be picky about what they want to include in the demo.

I really haven't been able to rationalize paying $40 for a table tennis game -- maybe the demo will change my mind... or tide me over until a price drop.

Cool, if I like it I might buy it. They really should release these things before the games come out. Thats what made me buy Moto GP 06.

Demo is for people like me who is pondering to buy the game or not. For those that really wanted to play the game would've bought it already so now by releasing the demo, those undecided gamers can get a hands-on experience. I got to say, Xbox live is awesome, I didn't think much about Lost Planet at first, but after downloaded the demo I'm hooked.

This game needed a demo. Even at "only" $40 as it was put earlier here, its hard to justify that much money for what just appears to many a glorified verion of pong. I'd need to play it first.

The demo was in this month's OXM 360 UK; I don't know if it was in the US version. You get Mark and Lui Ping (sorry if that was mis-spelt), and you can play either one or two player. Best of three games; first to seven points each game. There are your details.
