Super Smash Bros. on Wii U and 3DS gets new character: Punch-Out's Little Mac

From the February Nintendo Direct, Super Smash Bros. is getting the short star of Punch-Out who packs a powerful punch.

The diminutive fighter from Nintendo's Punch-Out series is the newest contender in the Wii U and 3DS's Super Smash Bros. roster.

During this morning's Nintendo Direct we saw Little Mac unleashing a flurry of punches against his opponents, but just like in the game, his signature move is a powered-up uppercut. The move seems to leave you temporarily vulnerable, making him a potentially high-risk/high-reward combatant.

And there were also some upgrades made to the iconic Home Run Bat and controversial changes made to the way edge-grabbing will work in the game. Super Smash Bros. still has no firm release date; we know it's coming this year, but we already knew from earlier reports that the game won't be released this Spring. And while the game will come to both 3DS and Wii U, the title will not feature cross-play capabilities. But that leaves a lot of time to add even more characters to the roster.
