2014's Super Mega Baseball, a streamlined, arcade-style baseball game, is getting a sequel. Developer Metalhead today announced Super Mega Baseball 2. You can watch a teaser below.

Key additions for the sequel include online multiplayer and more customization options--you can create a character, a team, and a league this time. There is also a "more realistic presentation," but it's still highly stylized as you can see in the video.

Regarding the "revamped" graphics, players can expect better-looking character models, as well as new and updated stadiums. There is also a "modernized interface."

As for the player and league features, you can create a player, a team, and a league, and then decide the number of teams in your league and their logos and uniforms. Further, you can customize player stats.

Super Mega Baseball 2 also has online multiplayer support for co-op and versus play, while an offline modes include "couch co-op" or single-player. For co-op, teammates take turns batting/running with every at-bat and alternate pitching/fielding with each inning.

"With the launch of Super Mega Baseball we received an overwhelming and positive response from the community, confirmation of sustained interest in this style of streamlined gameplay in sports games, and some excellent feedback," Metalhead co-founder Scott Drader said in a statement. "That feedback was consistent with our roadmap for the product and that has made decisions on where to improve the game rather easy--we're improving upon the original largely with the set of features most requested by the community."

Super Mega Baseball 2 also brings forward the "Ego" system from the first game, which creates a difficulty level specific to the player. "This system pushes seasoned gamers to their limits while simultaneously providing a gentle introduction for beginners," Metalhead said

Xbox One owners can grab Super Mega Baseball's Extra Innings edition free starting October 1 as part of Microsoft's Games With Gold program. The game launched in 2014 as a Cross-Buy game for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, before coming to PC and Xbox One in 2015. It was free on Xbox One in October this year as part of the Games With Gold program.
