THQ has today announced that it plans to release a GameCube version of its latest role-playing game next year. The game, which has been renamed Summoner: The Prophecy for the GameCube, sees players assuming the role of Queen Maia of Halassar--a character who many believe is a goddess reborn but who has plenty of enemies. The game features a strong, character-based story and an unusually action-based combat system in which players can control up to three characters at once.

Summoner: The Prophecy is currently scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2003. For more information, you might like to check out our full review of the PS2 version of the game.
