Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist teaser introduces Ken

Watch a teaser trailer for the upcoming live-action series based on Capcom’s fighting game.

Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, a live-action series based on Capcom’s fighting game, has released a new teaser trailer which introduces Ken.

Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist tells the coming of age story of Street Fighter’s most iconic characters, Ryu and Ken. Over the course of the series we will see them train in the martial art of “ansatsuken,” and how their past, present, and future are intertwined.

The series is directed by Joey Ansah who appears as Akuma as well. You might also remember him as one of the agents in The Bourne Ultimatum.

Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist was approved by Capcom. It will debut on Machinima’s YouTube channel in May 2014, and Content Media will later distribute it on TV, On-demand, and DVD and Blu-ray.

Machinima also distributed the live-action series based on the Mortal Kombat fighting games, Mortal Kombat: Legacy.

You can head over to the series’ official website to watch the previously released trailer that introduces Ryu, and Street Fighter: Legacy, the short film which preceded Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist.

l'm looking forward to watch this. Like how Ken look(perfect for the role). Ryu, on the other hand, does not seem well built and the look is not quite there yet. He basically does not seem to be the guy who has been through much hardship.

OH DEAR ME! yet more money wasting producers producing mind numbing bad acting trash >.< .. NOW! if they made the manga, (the 1 where chun-li fights vega in her appartment) into an exact copy live-action film.. that'd be cool.

When are filmmakers going to learn that certain games do not lend themselves well to live-action adaptions? The premise of most fighting games are too ridiculous to be compelling plots and the characters are usually too cartoon-y and outrageous to be believable characters. This is why major film studios never pick up this stuff (it's usually shitty ones that end up making movies like Street Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, etc.)

It seems a lot of the comments about this project are a little miss guided. This started out as a fan project trailer then Capcom gave the okay to make more, and that pretty much all Capcom has done. Its not a Hollywood cash-in; its a work of passion from fans of the street fighter franchise which is why it looks low budget, but because its a fan project it will hold more true to the lore of the games then anything Hollywood would make.

Do your best, Capcom.

I guess the Street Fighter series hasn't made Capcom enough money, they have to make another live-action adaptation. Don't get me wrong, I love Street Fighter as much as the next fighting game fan, but the games and maybe a movie or two would have been enough to entertain the fans and solidify the franchise's status as one of the best fighters of all time. Another live-action adaptation doesn't seem like it will go over well with the die-hard fans, and some casual fans may still have a problem with it.

Besides, movies/shows based on fighting games are usually disappointing. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, Tekken, Dead or Alive, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation...just to name a few.

It looks like a made for TV movie with the after effects created by a high school student...

I always thought that ken is a cocky american Martial Arts fighter that feels no one can beat him. So this whole "finding himself" thing is odd. Plus he is suppose to be a lady's man not a man lady.

By comparison street fighter the movie deserves four of five stars, and it is only the second worse video game movie because Super Mario Bros was made.

Wow! GameSpots user base have to be about the most ''negative'' fucking gamers I have ever seen.
I have never read so much negativity about this new series.
I personally think it looks fantastic, and have alot of respect for the makers of this, the people that are making this TV series are probably more ''passionate'' and more knowledgeable about Street Fighter than some of you so called ''hardcore'' gamers who like to think you know everything but really have no fucking clue, and they want to do justice to an acclaimed franchise that has been ruined by Hollywood because they actually no what ''true'' fans want.
I wish the makers the best of luck, they deserve success for there passion alone.
Good luck guys

Aww awkward, I hope they don't drop, fire shoryukens or hadokens so arbitrarily, it's not a game this time. Develop good intelligence purpose and meaning around the elements.

it seems okay, but I rather see it in anime like the 1st street fighter alpha movie or in cg.

Terrible hair/wig?! Can't stop looking at it, remembers a doll, "Ken doll". But the series could turn out good, will keep an eye for it.

Stuff like this is always so f*cking cringeworthy... Why don't these sad little nerds come up with something original?

For a moment I thought he was Reuben Langdon playing Ken, or was he?

*cringe*

The problem is, the characters in the games are so unrealistically proportioned with their muscles that any live-action actors who play them are always going to look really scrawny in comparison - no matter how muscly they may be...

@BuzzLiteBeer Mortal Kombat was actually done pretty good. Some of the SF animes weren't bad either. I would love to see a Soul Calibur life action movie done right, but that will never happen. At least with the SF characters of Ryu & Ken, they both have their own story. All the characters in SF2 had a story. The anime tell a lot of it. This doesn't look to bad so far. Looks gritty and serious.

@BuzzLiteBeer That's the years of horrible games-to-movies adaptations talking. I think a lot of games could be adapted to live-action with enough care. Viewers have to temper their expectations of story/plot development depending on the source material though. Ridiculous and cartoon-y can work well even with live-action.

@calamityo  You are LAME with your LAME comment. say something constructive, these people have put time and effort to give something to the street fighter franchise, What was the last big web series project you took on?? come on enlighten us all, tell us what they need to do to make it better?? We are all ears!!!

@Kinguard73  My point exactly! This is probably one of the more accurate real-life depictions of Street Fighter than anything I've seen lately or in the past - including that Chunli movie that came out sometime ago

@meedokicky Reuben would be a bit skinny for this role, although I wouldn't be surprised if he's a stunt supervisor/coordinator or choreographer for this series, that's all he seems to be doing in these last few years.

BuzzLiteBeer
BuzzLiteBeer

@jreezy18 @BuzzLiteBeer  Perhaps. Unfortunately, it's never a good film studio that decides to tackle these franchises. I suppose you are right seeing how superhero movies are equally absurd in source material, but the writers and producers are very good at adapting it for a wide audience and with better character development. I mean Nolan's Batman trilogy was expertly crafted. I guess if you're gonna polish a turd, at least know how to do it.

@nipperh2o @calamityoWhy is it that one always has to have done something similar or better just to expres a negative opinion on something? What the hell would that say about a positive opinion on the matter by the way? ''i don't know shit about it, so i'll just say it's awesome then...''

It's LAME! Deal with it!

@bambootaboo123 @nipperh2o @calamityo  Keep in mind this is a "Web project" not some Hollywood block buster - I'm assuming that's a basis for your conclusion.

Michael Bay isn't producing this - so at least give them some credit for putting together the resources for something which (in my opinion) looks decent. I've seen far worse looking movies on Netflix than this - and to me, from what I saw in the trailer, the fighting looks like it might be well choreographed.

At least some credit perhaps for the fact they are actually following the 'looks of the Characters' and not say Ryu is played by some Spanish dude...just look at the Dragon Ball Z movie or even the last Street Fighter movie you watched...
