Late '90s animated film Pokemon: The First Movie is now available to stream for free. Presumably as part of The Pokemon Company's 20th anniversary celebration, the company has made the film free to stream through the Pokemon TV service, both on the platform's website and through the iOS and Android apps.

Polygon reports that the free streaming version of The First Movie (which was released in 1998 in Japan and a year later in the US) does not include the Pikachu's Vacation short that aired in theaters. But if you're interested in watching The First Movie again or for the first time, free is a nice price.

The story for The First Movie involves Team Rocket leader Giovanni's plans to take over the world using Mewtwo. The creature ultimate escapes from the lab and devises its own plan that draws the attention of famous Pokemon trainer Ash Ketchum.

According to BoxOfficeMojo, The First Movie had a budget of $30 million and ended up making more than $160 million worldwide. A number of further Pokemon movies and TV shows followed.

2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the Pokemon series. The Pokemon Company has big plans to celebrate the milestone, one part of which was a commercial during Super Bowl 50 over the weekend.
