Strategy First has announced that it will publish Robin Hood in the US this winter. The game is in development at Germany-based Spellbound Entertainment, the creator of Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive . Like Desperados, Robin Hood is a tactical game with gameplay reminiscent of Pryo Studios' acclaimed Commandos games. Players select five team members for each mission and try to use each individual's skills to best effect. To avoid being detected by enemies, players can turn on a "view cone" display for one enemy at a time, and a number of different symbols will appear over the heads of enemies to show when they've been alarmed.
The Robin Hood setting is a big part of the game's appeal. All the most memorable names from the Robin Hood legend will grace the game's missions, including Maid Marian, Little John, Friar Tuck, plus the villains Prince John and the Sheriff of Nottingham. More than nine locations have been re-created for the games' 40 missions: Sherwood Forest, Nottingham Castle, Lincoln, York, Leicester, Derby, and a few forest intersections.
Robin Hood is scheduled to ship at the end of the year. We'll have more details on the game in the near future.
