Strategy First caught in Traps of Darkness

Gamers will assume the guise of a demon hell-bent on world destruction in this new PC adventure game.

Comments

Since most games let players save the world, Strategy First decided it might be a nice change to have them destroy it. That's the goal of Traps of Darkness, the dark PC adventure game the Montreal-based publisher will be releasing this coming April.

Developed by Cinemax, Traps of Darkness sticks gamers in the cloven hooves of one of seven demons. To free their imprisoned dark lord, whose first order of business will be the annihilation of humankind, the demons must recover a series of magic keys. Once the player is successful, the reward will be to preside over the apocalypse.

As gamers' antiheroes slay more enemies, their abilities will improve commensurably. Players will also be able to choose which of the seven demons to play as and can square off against one to six other hellspawn in LAN or Internet multiplayer matches. Rounding out the game is a series of maps and some random item-spawning.

While not yet rated, Traps of Darkness does already come with a suggested retail price of $19.99. GameSpot will have more on this game in the coming weeks.
