Paul Reiser shares some new insight on his character.

One of the actors who joins Stranger Things for Season 2, Paul Reiser, has shared some new details on his character and how he became attached to the hit Netflix sci-fi show.

Some spoilers for Stranger Things follow.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Reiser started off by confirming that his character, Dr. Owens, is the government employee in charge of cleanup for the events of Season 1. It sounds like he replaces Matthew Modine's Dr. Brenner, who might have died at the end of Season 1. Owens has "a little more humanity" than Brenner, a man who was cold and ruthless at times.

"Modine's character had very few lines so he was this looming, powerful presence," Reiser said. "My guy is much more hands-on and sort of among his many degrees is that he has a bedside manner that Modine's character did not have. I know coming into this what this community has gone through and my job is to try and walk them through their mistrust."

Reiser played the traitorous character Car in James Cameron's Aliens. Interestingly, Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer referred to Owens as "Paul Reiser" before they even hired him for the part, which could be a clue about his character's intentions. For his part, Reiser said he is unsure if his character is good or bad. "To be honest, I've only read a few of the scripts so I still don't know and I'm not sure [Matt and Ross Duffer] know," he said.

Also in the interview, Reiser revealed that his young son helped him get the gig on Stranger Things. When the show premiered in 2016, his son, who was 15 at the time, asked if he had heard of it. Apparently just five minutes after telling his son he didn't know what Stranger Things was, his agent called and asked if he'd be interested in a role for the second season.

Reiser is not the only well-known actor joining Stranger Things for Season 2. The Lord of the Rings actor Sean Astin will play a love interest for Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder).

Stranger Things Season 2 premieres on Halloween this year--October 31. The first teaser was released during Super Bowl LI and can be seen above. In other news, the general plot for the second season has been divulged--and it sounds pretty interesting.
