Still Life now movin' on PCs

The adventure genre is not, contrary to popular belief, dead. The folks at the center of an investigation in the latest game from developer Microids, however, are. The Adventure Company today announced that Still Life has shipped for the PC. French game developer Microids previously worked on Syberia.

In Still Life for the PC, players take on the guise of one of two detectives investigating some gruesome homicides in modern-day Chicago. As Victoria McPherson, gamers will investigate a crime that opens up a case worked on by her grandfather, Gus McPherson of 2003's PC game Post Mortem, in the 1920s. Investigations will take place both in modern times and in the '20s, as gamers are transported to both time periods with only the investigative technology of the era available to them.

Microids has also created an alternate reality game (ARG) for gamers looking to take their detective skills to the real world. This ARG explores the events prior to Still Life. The events have been spread across numerous spurious Web sites, and each site has been littered with clues and backstories.

An Xbox version of the game is still in the works and is expected on store shelves on May 1.
