A trailer for Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine has leaked online, offering a look at an impressive "cinematic virtual reality experiment" developed by Industrial Light and Magic, the studio behind the special effects in the Star Wars series.

The video shows a player wearing Vive, HTC and Valve's virtual reality headset, while also holding a controller. They are then transported to VR simulation of Tatooine, where a montage of various ideas and scenes are showcased; The Millennium Falcon is seen landing, after some quick shots of R2-D2, a couple of Tie Fighters, and an Imperial Lander. Later the viewer is shown using a lightsaber to deflect gunfire from Storm Troopers.

There are currently no further details on Star Wars: Trials on Tatooine, including whether it will actually be available to the general public. As previously mentioned, it is referred to as an "experiment," which could be an indication that it won't become much beyond what is shown in the video.

The HTC Vive is set to launch in April and is priced at $800. The Vive Consumer Edition will come with the headset, two wireless controllers, two "base stations," a link box (to connect to your PC), and a pair of Vive earbuds.

Vive units will ship with two free games: Job Simulator and Fantastic Contraption. Games for the VR headset will be sold through Valve's Steam platform.

GameSpot tried HTC Vive and said the headset demonstrates the future of virtual reality better than any other device.
