DICE's upcoming multiplayer-themed shooter Star Wars Battlefront will not have a server browser on console. Community manager Matthew Everett shared the detail on Reddit today.

Instead, Battlefront will make use of an unspecified "skill-based" matchmaking program. "Star Wars Battlefront will not offer a server browser, but will utilize a new skill based matchmaking system," Everett said. His comments came in response to a question about a server browser on console; it's unclear if the PC version also will not have a server browser. We've followed up with EA in an attempt to find out.

Server browsers are commonplace in DICE's Battlefield games on both console and PC. They allow players to jump into the gametype and map of their choosing, which can be a nice thing.

In other Battlefront news, publisher Electronic Arts announced today that a beta for the game will begin in early October across Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. More details about the beta are available here.

Meanwhile, the full Battlefront game launches on November 17 across all systems.
