Star Wars actor John Boyega is just like everybody else: he's playing Pokemon Go. Now, he tells TechCrunch that he caught a Pikachu while filming Star Wars Episode VIII in London.

"I found a Pikachu at Pinewood Studios while filming Star Wars. I told EVERYBODY. 'I got a Pikachu!' I was the most popular kid on set for like a day," he explained (via Entertainment Weekly).

Boyega went on to say that it's a positive that Pokemon Go is getting people out into the real world and bringing them together. "It's great the ways technology has brought us all together," he said.

He is currently level 5 in Pokemon Go.

Boyega, who previously called on EA to make a Star Wars Battlefront single-player mode, will reprise his role as Finn in 2017's Episode VIII. The movie will be "darker" and "bigger" than The Force Awakens, according to Boyega.

Episode VIII, which finished shooting at the end of July, also stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Laura Dern, Domhnall Gleeson, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis.

Star Wars fans don't have to wait until 2017 to see a new entry in the series, as spinoff movie Rogue One comes out this December. Some new behind-the-scenes footage and a poster were revealed at Star Wars Celebration and can be seen here. The next trailer is coming on Thursday.

In other news about Pokemon Go, Niantic today released a new update that reminds users not to play while driving and makes a number of other changes.
