The search for a lead gameplay designer also indicates that the new project will feature an online component. The requisition states that a desirable candidate should have a "proven track record of designing and balancing combat, player controls, and AI for AAA shooters or action games." Additionally, the person chosen for this job would "drive the player progression experience to ensure a deep and addictive persistent online experience."

The job listing indicates the project is not very far along. A successful applicant will "plan and define all components of the game," including setting, structure, rules, story flow, characters, objects, vehicles, interface design, and game modes, according to the listing. As of press time, EA has not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.

EA will hold its 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo press briefing today at 1 p.m. PDT. GameSpot will hold a liveblog of the event and will stream the presentation .
