Square Enix's supernatural thriller Murdered: Soul Suspect gets release date

Game to launch June 3 across Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Murdered: Soul Suspect, Square Enix's upcoming supernatural detective thriller, will launch across consoles and PC on June 3 in North America, the publisher announced today. A release in Europe and PAL territories will follow on June 6.

The game, developed by Dark Void and Quantum Conundrum studio Airtight Games, will be available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC, but a Wii U version is not in development. Murdered: Soul Suspect runs in native 1080p for Xbox One and PS4.

The game is set in Salem, Massachusetts, the location of the Salem witch trials in 1692, which saw public executions of those convicted of witchcraft. The story begins with protagonist Ronan O'Connor's death at the hands of an unknown assailant. He must then interrogate the ghosts of Salem to learn more about his killer.

L.A. Noire in the ghost universe... AWESOME! I've been looking forward to this game since it was originally announced. My only concern is that they only announced the next gen versions a month or so ago and they're supposed to be ready by June? Doesn't seem like much time. Hopefully this game turns out to be the original breath of fresh air I think it'll be.

I hope the main character isn't as douchy as he seems in the gameplay trailer. That also put me off Alan Wake.

Interesting but it wont be first day buy for me.

First interesting game I've actually been interested in purchasing from Square/Enix in awhile.

I like a good murder mystery, so I can't wait for this one.

June 6 for me then, and the best part about being 3 days behind the USA release is I'll be able to watch some Americans playing it on PS Live on my PS4 before I decide on a purchase :P

Sounds cool, although I don't know how much faith I have in Square anymore.

We need more games that are not action or shooters.

I'm sure I'll still be getting seven shades, brutally battered out of my pulpy corpse in Dark Souls II at that point so I'll have to see.

This game looks pretty interesting to me.  Since it's going to be digital download only for PC though, I'm just going to wait and see how it reviews and get it on a Steam sale if it turns out good.

I never pre-order a digital download only game.  I won't pay full price for one either.  From a collector's standpoint, I like my boxed copy.

So glad we're seeing a surge of original IP with the new console generation.

Could be a little boring for me. I prefer games with more action. We'll see..

Awesome, this is gonna be fantastic (I hope). I will always try something I'm interested in before completely dismissing it. If I didn't want to pay the money for new games I wouldnt have taken up gaming as a hobby, every game deserves a chance before it's cast out of somebodies mind as being a waste of time (How somebody can label a game they have never played in such a way, I have no idea).

I don't really care for a game from square.

Cool but I don't think that they are doing very good job on marketing side because I am not excited one bit about his game . Not even when I think that, it got some innovative gameplay .

Seems very interesting.  I'd like to try it on PC but SE uses that crappy log in system for their games even on Steam, plus it's SE so it's best to wait for reviews.  Remember the days when you could buy a Square game without looking at reviews and know it'll be good?  Driving Emotion Type-S I blame you.

Gamespot's going to give this game a 7. We'll see. = )

@tomservo51  Exactly what I say. The new South Park was more final fantasy than I have felt in a long time.

@Sefrix original IP?  This looks like a Beyond two souls ripoff...

@Cloud_imperium It does seem like they could have done more to hype/promote the game up till this moment. Considering that it comes out in June, that may not be enough time to get more people interested in it.

@Rayzakk Tomb Raider, Thief and Deus Ex are SE published games and they don't use that crappy log in system. To be fair, the only games I have using it are FF7/FF8.

@Rayzakk Yeah, it's kinda stupid that Steam isn't enough for them. You absolutely have to go through more hoops.

Stebsis

@Rayzakk But this isn't developed internally by Square-Enix unlike Final Fantasy for example. Rather than looking at the publisher, look at what developer has done, that gives much better idea of what kind of quality to expect.

@dipdish The golden age of 7's have started, thanks Gamespot for changing the score scale.

@DeadorRock @Rayzakk  All of those games are MADE by SE. Square Enix bought Eidos years ago. Eidos is an internal developer at SE.

@DeadorRock  @Stebsis

Both have good points.  True you don't have to log in for those games and it's not directly by SE.  Still think the wait and see is the best way to go though.
