Square Enix has announced the addition of a Battle Arena area to its Code Age Brawls cell phone game in Japan. In the current version of the game, players can bring three-person teams of characters unlocked in single-player mode to the Battle Arena and fight against another team. Currently, that other team is controlled by artificial intelligence, but Square Enix promises that starting in late April, the Battle Arena will allow player-versus-player combat. Square Enix also plans for Code Age Brawls to take advantage of NTT DoCoMo's i-area service to match players with opponents in their general vicinity. Code Age Brawls is a subscription-based game that costs 525 yen ($4.45) per month and is compatible with DoCoMo's 3G FOMA phones. It takes place in the same universe as Square Enix's sci-fi PlayStation 2 role-playing game, Code Age Commanders.
