Square Electronic Arts has announced that it will kick off the first leg of its promotional campaign for the launch of its highly anticipated role-playing game Final Fantasy IX. Character artwork from Final Fantasy IX will be displayed on popcorn containers and lobby standees at 244 movie complexes nationwide, and the game will also be featured in preshow trivia slides.
"The Consumer Demo Day event was a huge success. Fans flew in from as far away as Chicago, Houston, and Tucson and waited in line for two hours for the opportunity to play this highly anticipated game," said Omar Brodrick, PlayStation store manager at the Metreon in San Francisco. "I'm sure that Final Fantasy IX will be one of the top sellers this holiday season."
Additionally, Square plans to kick off a television ad campaign on November 13 on such stations as MTV, Comedy Central, FOX, UPN, ESPN, ESPN2, and E!. The ads will also be run during WWF broadcasts. The campaign will run for five weeks, and the game will be released on November 14.
