Spike TV gets starry-eyed for game awards show

In-demand celebrities Charlize Theron, 50 Cent, and Kiefer Sutherland set to appear at taping for December 10 broadcast.

The lineup for Spike TV's Video Game Awards 2005 is getting a little more star-studded by the day. Last month the "First Network for Men" released a shortlist of scheduled celebrity appearances along with the nominations for each category. Today Spike added a few names to the list of actors and musicians dropping by its show.

Acadmey Award winner Charlize Theron (Monster, North Country) will be there to promote her latest film, Aeon Flux (opening December 10). While she's there, she might also be accepting awards for Best Performance by a Human - Female and Cyber Vixen of the Year in recognition of her role in the Aeon Flux game.

Rapper 50 Cent will likewise be there keeping his profile high as the star of both the recently released film Get Rich or Die Tryin' and the soon-to-be-released game 50 Cent: Bulletproof. 50 Cent is a nominee in the Best Performance by a Human - Male and Best Original Song categories. The game is nominated seven times in six categories, with costars Dr. Dre and Eminem going head-to-head in the Best Supporting Male Performance category.

Kiefer Sutherland has also been booked to appear, no doubt to drum up further interest in the early 2006 release of the highly anticipated game adaptation of his hit show, 24. Finally, Spike announced an appearance from '80s rock band Def Leppard, which is apparently going to be supporting its new Rock of Ages collection of videos on DVD.
