Speed Racer Enterprises announced today that it has enlisted the services of the pioneering marketing firm Games Advertising to license out the Speed Racer franchise to interested game developers and publishers. Under the agreement, Games Advertising will initiate video-game development projects using the Speed Racer character license. Favorite characters, such as Speed, Sparky, Pops, Racer X, and even the aggravating monkey Chim Chim could make an appearance in a potential Speed Racer game.

"The time is ripe for someone to develop a new, state-of-the-art Speed Racer video game," said John Bodin, VP of Communications for Games Advertising. "Gaming technology is now mature enough to produce a fully-interactive mission-based game based on the vehicles and characters appearing in the Speed Racer cartoon series. Games like "Driver," "Midtown Madness," and "The Dukes of Hazzard" have laid the groundwork, and the Speed Racer character would be the ideal basis for a racing game that could incorporate a pure racing mode in addition to a character-driven, story-based mission mode."

This character-licensing agreement with Speed Racer Enterprises is the first of its kind for Games Advertising, as the company is primarily known for its work in helping game developers and publishers generate additional revenue through the sale of in-game advertisements.

Naturally, no details on specific platforms or development partners are available at this time.
