Cambridge SoundWorks, the speaker division of Creative Technology, introduced the next level of its FourPointSurround speaker system - the FPS2000. The second version adds more power and output with larger satellite speakers, a better amp, and a larger subwoofer.

"The FourPointSurround FPS2000 was designed as a powerful sound system for our Environmental Audio Platform," said Sim Wong Hoo, founder and chief executive officer at Creative. "This four-channel speaker system delivers the ultimate gaming experience for Environmental Audio games and music."

The four satellite speakers use 2.5 inch throw drivers, a five-channel amplifier outputs 25 watts to the woofer and seven watts per satellite. Also, the system includes two speaker stands (so you can place two speakers behind you) and a volume/fade control. Suggested price for the unit will be under US$200 when it arrives next quarter. This price sets it squarely in the middle of the company's current four or more PC speaker lineup, with the low end of the lineup, the original FourPointSurround system, at $99 and the DeskTop Theatre 5.1 at $299.
