Sounds like Xbox has a new game called "Screamride" in the works

[UPDATE] Microsoft issues a statement on the matter.

[UPDATE] Microsoft issued a statement to GameSpot on the matter this afternoon; you can read it in full below.

“Microsoft often acquires various trademarks as part of its ongoing business strategy, but beyond that we have no comment."

The original story is below.

Microsoft has filed a trademark application for a new game called "Screamride." The trademark application, filed April 9 with the United States Patent & Trademark Office, doesn't say much about the game other than that it will be an "online computer game," presumably for Xbox.

Of course, filing a trademark applicationn does not necessarily mean any such game is actually in development. We have reached out to Microsoft for comment.

Microsoft has been busy filing trademark applications for unannounced games of late. Earlier this month, the Xbox maker filed an application for a game called "Snap Attack," and in March, the company registered a new title called "Secrets and Treasure."

"SCREAMRIDE" sounds like the title of an R.L. Stine novel.

Just thinking about it gives me Goosebumps.

Good thing it's not called "CREAMRIDE".

... which also sounds like an R.L. Stine novel... :\

You want to explain to me how this shit gets filed under PC news?  Seriously do your fucking job Eddie it's not PC news.  So when I click on PC bit on the website and then PC news, I shouldn't be linked to this.

I'm gonna guess it will be some crappy Kinect game.

Screamride?!? Sound like what you do when you turn on your xbone and realize there are no good games out.

I have the feeling that this will be a Kinect game. But because every XBONE comes with Kinect it will just be called an XBOX game.

Is this game like Juice Simulator? Right now Microsoft is pushing me away. I want hardcore games on X1

I assume it will be some Kinect rollercoaster garbage.

If this were to be some type of thrill ride Kinect game, I could be impressed that somebody actually wants to make something new and fun for the kinect! If it's just another shooter, on or off rails, as one person suggests, it's a bad idea.

Sounds like GameSpot's having a hard time finding "news" for us.

This is actually what happens when people try to use the voice recognition of the Kinect and it doesn't work.  They just end up screaming at it and tossing it out the window for a ride.

What if it was a murder based detective game based on a serial killer who preys on traveling carnivals or amusement parks!!

Thinks Carnivale meets True Detective meets L.A. Noire and Condemned.

Meanwhile, XboneSpot won't mention the fact that Killzone devs Guerrilla Games is working on a 'vastly different new IP' that has been in production for 2 1/2 years, recently hiring a former prominent Obsidian writer who was a big part of New Vegas, lists his specialty on LinkedIn as open world RPGs, and recently worked on Shadows of Mordor.

Maybe it's something like a roller Coaster builder.

@deadpen  Really? I mean I definitely do scream but with enjoyment from using my Xbox and playing my games. Maybe you're not doing it right.

@kitmeep  Funny thing is, now that Feedbackula's gone, besides the once in a while Van Ord review, he's the only one here worth checking daily. I miss the old Gamespot.  Hate the new website, liked the old comments sections better where you could thumb up or down a comment.

@xcollector  With a name like Scream-RIDE, you can pretty much guarantee the interactivity will be limited to terrible Kinect usage...

@fgjnfgh I'm terrified at what you might consider hardcore. FPS pew pew games? Interactive movies?

@Mandrew257  Yup, you sit on your couch and lean. Sounds like something that would only be worthwhile in VR.

@northshire  I see a similar comment pretty much everyday...Gamespot needs to step it up.

@eternal_napalm

Explain why you think Gamespot favors the Xbone? I don't get it. I see equal stories....there is basically nothing to report on concerning Sony at this moment.

@mr_nee I don't think they would patent it as a game

@Carpetfluff  Edit:  Sounds like something that would only be worthwhile if you don't have a life.

@23Jarek23  I come here hoping to be pleasantly surprised... and I mostly like the review staff and the various shows... but damn,  their news articles have become nothing but pandering garbage that screams "we're in desperate need of web traffic!"

@northshire @23Jarek23  Sorry, I meant Gamespot as in the editors. This place really has gone downhill over the past couple years. The comments are justified imo.
