Namco has announced that it plans to release Soul Calibur II and the latest installment in the Ridge Racer series for all three major consoles--the PS2, GameCube, and Xbox--as part of the company's multiplatform strategy. This will apply to the Japanese, North American, and European market accordingly, though no release date or pricing has been disclosed at this time. Ridge Racer was first released on the PlayStation console in 1993, and four sequels have been released since, with the entire series selling more than 10 million copies worldwide. Soul Calibur was first introduced as an arcade title in 1998, followed by a Dreamcast version, which became one of the most highly acclaimed games on Sega's console.
