Sony offering refunds after Deadpool price mistake

PlayStation maker accidentally charged $60 for $50 Marvel game on PSN; affected users will be given $10 refund.

Gamers who purchased Deadpool for $60 through the PlayStation Network this week will be given a refund due to a pricing mistake, Sony has confirmed.

"We are aware of the Deadpool pricing discrepancy on PSN. If you purchased the game at $59.99 you will receive a $10 credit," Sony said. "Expect an XMB message with more info later this week."

Deadpool launched this week to a mixed critical reception. The game was developed by Transformers outfit High Moon Studios and is based on the Marvel antihero.

Activision cut 40 full-time positions at High Moon Studios following the completion of Deadpool in April to "better align our development talent against our slate."

Shows Sony is a better company than Steam, even if credit is not as good as a refund. They charged £40 for the preorder then dropped it to £30 a couple of days BEFORE launch. Then wouldn't refund the difference and didn't even read the complaint properly. £40 for a digital release is ridiculous as the physical releases are rarely any more than £30.

... um why the fuck did you charge 60 euro's for this if its only 50$.... a-bums

60? 50?!

I bought it for 29.99 on Steam o.o

And people still don't get their actual money back xD

This is what good PR looks like MS. Take notes.

If you bought it off the PS Store, you used money from your PSN wallet.
Regardless of how you got the money onto PSN, you used PSN credit to buy the game.

Its still a refund.

Its only £29.99 at retail anyway,so the digital copy is more than the physical version & you have no re-sale value with the digital version either, so its a lose/lose situation just like most digital products. The sooner people realize digital is only the way forward for the platform holders & publishers the better.

$10 credit, in the end they still get your money.

$10 credit is not the same thing as a $10 refund.

it should be double, since its sony's mistake.

People still have their credit cards on PSN after they exposed their credit cards to a 3rd party over a year ago?

Love em or hate em, Microsoft knows how to do online - Sony, not so much.

You actually owe me $20 Sony, I feel this game is worth $39.99 instead of $59.99.

Maybe Sony should just buy this game for me as an apology for all the emotional damage they've done to us.

I haven't played this game on either x360 or ps3. But the PC version is amazing.

Not shocked with the low reviews, because this is not a IGN/Gamespot game... if you know what I mean.

haha! MISTAKE my ass. They did it on purpose. It's a cool strategy I must admit.

ps. does GS think a refund is the same as a credit?

And why the hell would you pay 50 bucks for this game anyway? Not to mention that "digital is the future" games shouldn't be that expensive to start with. Anyway, enjoy you crapfest!

Game is worth every penny.  Amazing game, haven't stopped laughing since I started playing it.  I really hope this game becomes a success overall, I want to see a sequel.  I think Deadpool deserves a second chance for a better game

Little advice: Wait til this game is $10. It will be in about a months time. Not a terrible game, but not a good one either. It really starts to degrade in the middle.

Gaming's best advice ever: Do not buy comic hero games. They suck.

(Exception: Batman Arkham series, of course).

@leeko_link You should ask Activision for the other $10. They have plenty of coins in Gringotts.

Awww you're emotionally damaged? In that case not just an appology they owe you a baby bottle too.

@bmad91 It's because it really is something that only Deadpool fans are going to enjoy...It's not going to appeal to the average head up their ass COD has high production values kind of gamer

Bigevil1978
Bigevil1978

@petez34 First off skippy Chances are it wasn't changed after Activision lowered the price it was done pretty last second....Aside from the FACT that unlike Micro$haft Sony doesn't set the prices on PSN the publishers are the ones who set the price  Secondly Just because they credit you 10 bucks in your PSN wallet doesn't mean it isn't a refund........

@xsonicchaos And your exactly the type of person that Deadpool ISN"T for.....They don't give a rats ass about you, the game was pretty much made for Deadpool fans......It IS exactly what a deadpool game should be

@Bigevil1978 @bmad91 I'm wasn't a Deadpool fan and this game introduced me to his character and I absolutely loved every bit of it. From the old school gaming references to the Wolverine trash talking.

The upgrades keep the gameplay fresh and fun, while the ending is hard as balls but very good.

"Just because they credit you 10 bucks in your PSN wallet doesn't mean it isn't a refund........"

Time to exaggerate to prove a point.

Kid nags mom for a McDonald's cheeseburger. Mom get sick of the nagging and pulls her credit card to pay for it. McDonald's "accidentally" charges $1000 too much.

But it's ok they'll give her coupons for free McNuggets worth $1000.

Still don't see how it's not a refund?

A credit is not a refund. A refund is when you actually get your money back. You can take your money and do what you want with it. A credit is Sony making you their bitch on a leash.

Apparently, some people love bending over for Sony.

@krolm @Sevenstorms Pretty sure he's joking. Not that its funny or anything. Just that I find it very hard to believe a real breathing human being could truly be that stupid.

@bmad91 @Bigevil1978 It seems like a fun game, but although I like the humor and 4th-wall-breaking of Deadpool, I wouldn't buy this at launch. It also seems flawed and uneven, so I'm gonna wait for a Steam sale to bring it down to wallet-friendlier levels.

JumpoffjoeyP

@Saketume @Bigevil1978 That is a HORRIBLE example to use... It is some form of a refund, regardless if you don't spend the money somewhere guess what, you'll eventually spend another $10 on psn on something or another so hey guess what?? YOU STILL GOT UR 10 BUCKS WORTH BACK. Get over it no way to use over-exaggerations as an example regardless if u even stated it before hand.. Not sony making anyone a bitch on a leash if you can still spend it

@brainiac1988 @StonerDemon When I was younger, I got a very well paid job, and being single I had most of my wage for myself, so I was buying games all the time. So many that most of them are still unplayed. That's why I try to give them a little of my time when I can. In this case it's Koudelka (4 cds). Yes, the video you are referring to is actually the intro, very nice for the time. The gameplay is slow and the battle system feels incomplete but it's a decent game overall.

brainiac1988
brainiac1988

@StonerDemon  ooh Koudelka.. that is oldskool. I bought that one after I finished FF VIII. Weirdly enough I only played it for 2 hours or so.

I remember a beautiful cinematic with a creepy castle when I think about that game. probably the intro?

@StonerDemon @Lhomity @reincarnator07

As a developer, I'm normally against piracy, but when a game goes out of print, I stop caring.

The money that you pay for the game second-hand doesn't go to the developers anyway. So by all means, go give it a try.

StonerDemon
StonerDemon

@Lhomity @StonerDemon @reincarnator07 From the moment you insult people just for the sake of insulting, discussing with you is a waste of time. Go graduate, get a job and then pay for the games you own if you want to contribute something for somebody. I said I would get the iso to give it a "try".

I have 120 PS3 games, 237 PS2 games and 197 PS1 games, and several old consoles, all original and bought through all my years of hard job (I'm a 34 year old professional marketing analyst). I think I've contributed a little.

Lhomity
Lhomity

@StonerDemon @reincarnator07 Or you could find a copy of Spider-Man 2 on eBay and actually contribute something to somebody for the products you enjoy. As opposed to, you know, being pirate scum.
