Sony lays out PSN awards slate

Fan vote to determine cream of 2011's downloadable PS3 and PSP crop; winners to go on sale for 30 to 50 percent off starting next week.

Sony's PlayStation Network Gamers' Choice Awards is giving fans a chance to honor their favorite downloadable titles of the last year, or make the ones they haven't tried yet a bit cheaper to acquire.

Infamous: Festival of Blood is up for both Best PSN Exclusive and Best PSN Game.

Sony today unveiled the nominees for the 2012 PSN Gamers' Choice Awards, intended to honor the best downloadable PlayStation 3 and PSP games of the last year. All 10 categories will be determined by fan voting through the PlayStation Store, and the winners will go on sale next week. Beginning March 6, gamers will be able to buy the award-winning games on PSN for 30 percent off, with PlayStation Plus subscribers getting 50 percent off.

I bought RE4 HD already with a PS+ 50% discount. What's the bleeding point?

How is Tetris a psn exclusive... Not sure, but I think I have it on the gameboy, lol. More on topic, might just get tactics ogre if it gets 30% off, since i never got round to getting it... Other than that Libo deserves a vote... didn't play it on the ps3 (laptop ftw) but it's one interesting and fun game.

Actually Megavideogamer im pretty sure I read that downloaded PSP games play on the Vita, so I would imagine they will keep PSP games around for a while. If I am wrong sorry about that, but my phone browser is very limited and I cant look to make sure I am right.

I kinda want to get those PSP games, before Sony pulls the plug on the PSP. Which they will do soon since PSvita is here. Whilst Sony has supported its consoles PS1,PS2,PS3 for ten years. They didn't say that for the PSP. which they didn't bother changing over to SEN from PSN.

Tactics Ogre is deserving of the PSP category, without a doubt.

Hoping Pac-man at least wins the Mini game department. Because if Angry birds or Impossible game win that, I'll be adding another notch to the number of times humanity has disappointed me. The only other category I'm interested in is the Playable Online category and the three in that one are all good choices.

I predict, no one will vote for the games they think are good, but rather will vote for the ones they want to buy...at a discount ;)

Why isn't Limbo up for best PSN game, too? It's certainly better than any of the ones listed.

@pokecharm Infamous Festival of Blood isn't DLC, it's a stand-alone game. You don't need either Infamous disc to play it. About this competition, it's also great but it's also flawed because people will just vote for the game they really want to get for cheap. *guilty*

I've been holding off on some of the above titles on the basis I was waiting for a price drop, I'll pick them up if the price drops on the ones I'm interested in.

Not sure why the paid demo to Dissidia 012 is a nominee...there were other quality PSP games that could have made up the that third.

cool idea. Nice one Sony. Perhaps it would be better if the vote was open to any game, but then I have a feeling people would vote for the most expensive to get them cheaper lol
