Sony Files Another Trademark for Horror Game Until Dawn

A trademark has surfaced for Until Dawn, the game announced in 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and PS Move, indicating that it has not been canceled.

Remember Until Dawn, the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Move-exclusive horror game announced at the 2012 Gamescom conference? Well, it looks like Sony and developer Supermassive haven't given up on it just yet.

Sony recently filed a trademark for Until Dawn, indicating that it at least intends to hold onto the property. Since its announcement in 2012, Sony hasn't said much about the game, except that it had been delayed past its initial 2013 release date.

We do know the basic premise of the game, however. It's meant to emulate teen-horror films and the developer has hired Hollywood talent to write the game's story. You use the PS Move controller as a flashlight, illuminating paths as you fight for survival throughout a night filled with enemies and danger.

Sony has yet to give any official reason for the delay. But considering how long it's been since we've heard about the game, and given PS Move's compatibility with Sony's VR headset for PlayStation 4, Project Morpheus, it seems possible that a PS4 redo is in the works. Although this is purely speculation, I'd love to see what Until Dawn would look like on the Morpheus.

Would you play a game like Until Dawn on the Morpheus with PS Move controllers? Let us know in the comments!

I wish they would finally make a slasher game where you play as the killer.  They could even let you choose a look modeled after Jason, Leatherface, Michael Myers, or one all your own.

@youre_a_sheep I'm thinking maybe there have been some games like that already, maybe a long time ago or not well known, but it would be cool to see it done nowadays and at a high level of quality.

Wow, looks awesome. It is the 1st game I have seen that is almost just like watching a good ole hack em slash em horror flick. It will be interesting to see what or who it is that is scaring the characters in the game so bad. Maybe a rendition of Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees?? Either way, I hope like hell development continues and it gets released on both PS4 & PS3! It has def got my full attention!!

@ps3gamer1234 ´´Axeman at Cutter's Creek´´ and the original ´´NIGHT OF THE DEMONS´´ are the only movies that I recall it didn´t happened, not good movies but they don´t have to be since they´re B-movies.

PS move is a big turn off, Morpheus is a big turn on. Don't know what to think.

Your constant attempts to build your self esteem by downing another group all because you don't like the system they like is a horror.

That plot and the voice acting is worse than a po rn film.

@Johny_47 Thus a classic is born! Remember the original RESIDENT EVIL?´´Jill´s sandwich´´and all?

@meeghoulz @Johny_47 Aye but you almost expected that kind of cheese from a Jap made game back in those days =P

And after playing through Resident Evil 1 and 2 when I was a young boy, it was like a bit of short relief hearing that silly cheese because of how terrifying those games are with their brilliant atmospheres, suspense, lack of ammo / supplies and isolation.

@Johny_47 Agreed.I still hope they´re trying to pull something of a ´´CABIN IN THE WOODS´´ feel here. And if I´m still a RE fan,it´s really thanks to their mastering in those elements you mentioned and not the Hollywood Blockbuster vibe they tryed to redirect the franchise to nowadays.CAPCOM brought jusice to the 1st installment by their GameCube remake.though, with a solid plot and more professional voice acting.REzero was quite good too, ever played them?I bought the Wii copies so I can still play it on WiiU gamepad, but I never get to finish RE6...

How long until Sony officially announces that this piece of vaporware isn't coming out?

@TJSpyke

I bet you it will come out. I think they delayed it because the move wasn't a big success. it was planned to require  the move. but i think they might make it optional. and we will also see a PS4 version. PS4 supports the PS3 move. and the lightbar on the controller might just do the job.

If it uses the Morpheus along with the Move this could be a very immersing game. Not my cup of tea but it does sound cool.

I agree - the flashlight idea is kind of a cool use of the move

Looks pretty Interesting If it is for Project Morpheus, If it is just a gimmicky motion control game on the PS3 it will flop big time.

To emulate teen-horror movies and a writer from Hollywood has been hired? There goes my hype for this.

Is this some kind of journalist "trick" writing every word, except for prepositions, in upper-case? Some times you just can't what is what.
