Sony Entertainment Network now accessible via PC

The new Sony Entertainment Network store allows users to make purchases for their PlayStation 3 and Vita from a desktop web browser.

by

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has officially revealed a new online store that allows PC users to purchase PSN content for their PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita.

The PlayStation Store received a major redesign in October this year.

The new web interface is now available in 15 European countries, as well as Australia and New Zealand, and follows on from the recent redesign of the PlayStation Store for the PS3 in what Sony described as an "on-going process."

PlayStation users who conduct a purchase on PC will have it added to their downloads list within the PS Store, which can then be downloaded directly to the PS3 and/or PS Vita. Videos purchased on the online store can also be watched on Windows PCs via Sony's Media Go application. Video content is currently only accessible in Great Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Australia.

The online store has been launched in the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Russia, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, and Finland.

No mentions of a launch window for North America has been made. Sony has stated that the store will be brought to other regions "in future."

Wii U e-market would probably looks like PS3's and Xbox 360's, since their interface designs seem to be tablet-friendly.

Not interested. I prefer to buy games through the PS3 and get wallet codes from amazon. just the classic way :)

Boy, these games are so cheap. /sarcasm

Can someone remind me how the PC gamers are still supposed to be elitist...

Not sure if I'll really use the PC feature. I like the new layout and can find everything I want or need quickly and have never had a problem with slow down.

About time! I've loved this aspect with Xbox Live, always being able to access my profile and Marketplace at work.

It's about bloody time. Having to scroll through my previous purchases on the slow was a huge pain. I always like that on xbox I could just go through my entire catalogue on the PC, which is much faster than loading on the 360 and making purchases is also more convenient.

My comment was deleted? All I did was post a link showing this article was late on arrival. I then commented on the news.

How peculiar...

I can confirm that United Arab Emirates is included.

Proof they don't even consider PCs to be gaming devices. Sigh.

Cool for PS+ subscribers who have to travel now and can't access their PS3 to buy/download their stuff on the Store on time

About time. Now I don't have to wait 10 minutes for the god awful maze-like new PSN store to load. My PC should be able to handle it.

OK I'm no Xbox fanboy nor do I think the Xbox is superior to the PS3 in everything (I think both consoles suck in terms of hardware IMO), But why did Sony not launch this until now? Xbox.com could already do this type of stuff for Xbox consoles. In my opinion I think Sony should have had this years ago and it surprises me to read that they haven't made a website like this until now.

It's really surprising to see that everyone acknowledge the wide accessibility and popularity of PC and want to use it for their own benefit but when it comes to making games for PC they simply turn their faces like it does not exist. Tsk Tsk Tsk....

The games are not even cheaper on the PSN Store.. and paying for watching videos.. is pretty expensive.. if everything was made much cheaper then probably more people will buy more stuff...

Hey Sony why don't you give us silent hill for ps2 on PSN, then i might want to go buy something on the store or i don't know how about dark cloud 2, yeah that be a good idea, damn no wonder you guys are losing money!

 @bufu21 Yes imagine that. It's almost as if having no competing stores and infinite storage space doesn't make downloadable games cheaper than physical copies.

 @SolidTy IT's gamespot. They randomly delete 1/3 of your comments no matter what's in them.

 @Rufus_the_rat So true, whoever 'designed' the redesign deserves to be fire immediately. A lot of stuff just disappears underneath the heap of new stuff, and I can no longer differentiate between bought stuff and demos previously downloaded...well done Sony.

 @ScottlinDLR I'm going to guess:

Sony is a slow behemoth company and these decisions need multiple suits, board meetings and business dinners to get approval.

Sony has a history of low internet security and this type of decision needs some serious discussions with the  management before they can be convinced it's a good idea.

Also: Haven't you noticed they always want their own standards of everything. (betamax, minidisc, blu-ray etc.) Much like Apple they wanted us to use only their own devices (PS3, PSP and Vita) to access the shop run only by them. Using third party hardware is a big issue for them.

 @Aragorn823 Agreed , Farcry 3 is £60 on PSN while on Steam it is £30 , I mean what the hell Sony & Publishers involved.

 @snakefantasy10

that's not sony's job, they don't own those ip's, you see,

then you should ask "Konami for silent hill or Level-5 for dark cloud.

you could buy the Silent Hill HD - Collection for Ps3

 @snakefantasy10 I don't think Sony reads these comments, but yes, I want the Dark Cloud games too.  HD and trophy support please.

 @Cyberjin or i could download them on the computer and as for the HD collection on Ps3 had too many bugs

 @WhiteStormy i know Sony don't read this i was trying to be funny, but i totally agree with you about Dark cloud

 @Munkeesuncle  You're paying monthly to rent games. I'm glad you think it's a good deal. I don't.

 @mutley89  How is PS+ pointless, Yes its a paid feature you CHOOSE to buy. but you buy it if you want discounts on other items plus all the free games. Sure the games are only free while your a PS subscriber, but $60 a year for over $500 of games plus whatever you buy at a discount sure makes up for it. I'm not hating on xbox but better then paying $60 for any online features whatsoever and whatever features it unlocks.

 @snakefantasy10

why are you whining here then? I know HD collection on Ps3 got patched, maybe it got fixed, maybe it didn't
