Battlefield 4's China Rising downloadable content launched yesterday for Battlefield Premium subscribers, but its release is not going smoothly for all users.
A status update on the official Xbox website warns users that "purchase and content usage" is currently limited on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 for the expansion. Microsoft assured gamers that it is working with Electronic Arts to resolve the matter.
"Hi Xbox members, are you having difficulties trying to get the new China Rising map pack for Battlefield 4? We are currently working with our partner to get this issue resolved," Microsoft said. "Thanks for all your patience while we work. We'll update you when work is complete."
What's more, EA has outlined a series of issues with the China Rising DLC in an update on its support site. These issues appear to affect all platforms.
"While exploring new battlegrounds in the Battlefield 4 expansion, China Rising, you may run into an occasional hiccup, issue, glitch, or problem that could interrupt or prohibit your gameplay," EA said.
In addition, some PC Battlefield 4 players who have installed China Rising are reporting getting dropped from multiplayer matches "within seconds" of joining. DICE has identified this issue, EA said, and a fix is in the works, though it's not likely to arrive anytime soon.
"This fix will take some time to be fully completed, but players should be noticing normal gameplay behavior soon," EA said.
Coinciding with China Rising's release, DICE has also launched a new patch for all Battlefield 4 players, though it is unclear what the update addresses specifically. A patch for the PlayStation 4 version of Battlefield 4 was scheduled to arrive yesterday, but DICE delayed it for additional testing.
The China Rising expansion for Battlefield 4 includes four new multiplayer maps (Silk Road, Altai Range, Guilin Peaks, and Dragon Pass), as well as five new weapons, two land and air vehicles, and two additional gadgets. What's more, the China Rising expansion packs in the Air Superiority game mode and 10 new assignments featuring their own unlocks.
China Rising is the second DLC for the game, following Second Assault. All content is exclusive to Battlefield Premium subscribers for a period of two weeks, after which all players can download the DLC. For more on Battlefield 4, check out GameSpot's review.
