Sleeping Dogs adding 4 DLC packs in October

Quartet of offerings include new missions, vehicles, and upgrades for open-world action title; no word on pricing or release dates; first story-driven DLC reveal on October 14.

Sleeping Dogs is not resting. Publisher Square Enix today laid out the game's downloadable content schedule for October, detailing four new packs headed to the action game during the month.

Sleeping Dogs' new Tactical Soldier pack brings a new outfit and gun.

The first offering is the Street Racer pack. This download includes a new Sting bike, a Dragon character outfit that reduces damage, and three new races set on the streets and in the rivers of Hong Kong.

Also coming to Sleeping Dogs in October is the SWAT pack, which brings 20 new emergency situation missions and 4 different mission types, as well as a new cop outfit with extra damage resistance, and a new armored SWAT van.

The Tactical Soldier pack (pictured) adds the Tactical Outfit, which Square Enix says is "the most powerful" armor available in Sleeping Dogs. The content also makes the Assault Rifle from the game's Funeral and Civil Discord missions available for players whenever they wish to use it.

Additionally, Square Enix announced the Community Gift Pack for Sleeping Dogs. No information regarding what this pack will offer was divulged. Specific release dates and prices for all packs were not specified, though Square Enix said the Community Gift Pack will be free.

Lastly, Square Enix announced that it will unveil the first story-driven DLC for Sleeping Dogs during the 2012 New York Comic-Con on October 14.

I admit - I liked this game - finished on 1000Gs but that's it - i'm not buying any side missions or zombie packs - thanks

Don't dare to read any of the comments as someone has likely blasted out what happens at the end...

I picked up the game because i liked the look of the martial arts, and I can honestly say it's been the biggest gaming surprise this year, sheer quality hands down.

Usually i'm against DLC, but for this i'll make an exception.  The game is already complete, anything else is just a bonus!

I hope they would continue on with the story, I personally thought that the story shouldn't just end that way.

Beat it, uninstalled it, and none of this is tempting me to reinstall and play again. It was an alright game. Nothing great. Some aspects of it were very disappointing actually.

I can't wiat to see more of the DLC, I hope their worth getting. Also based on the only other Square Enix game that I have that had DLC(Final Fantasy XIII-2), the DLC shouldn't cost to much.

I completely agree SavoyPrime, although maybe I'll try the SWAT Pack

Not really caring for the mentioned DLC, but I'll definitely pick up the story-driven DLC depending on what it will focus on.

I loved sleeping dogs, most fun I've had in an open world game since mafia 2. Great PC port made playing on the PC a truly superior game experience. Still all that said the game doesn't have a ton of replay value unless you are a collectibles freak. I know It took me 24 hours to complete the game and I really didn't feel compelled to come back for more. During the main campaign I finished and collected about 80-90% of the bonus stuff as I went along. Since all the collectables/bonus missions show up on your map after you bang a chick ;p it's pretty easy just to get most of them driving to and from main quests or doing the drug busts. Maxing out cop and face levels is easy and the police drug bust missions are REALLY repetitive. Seriously the same mission about 20-30 or so times lol

The DLC so far has been the bad kind of DLC just a lot of cosmetic stuff and cars that is priced a little high (4 bucks for an outfit and car?!?! and 3 bucks to get cash and EXP that's easily obtainable in game by doing side missions?) I really thought a true story DLC would have been out by now. Despite all my bitching above I'd still recommend it, especially if you can get the PC version on a sale.

Sleeping Dogs is a great game.

The melee combat is just fantastic. A true sequel to the True Crime series.

Sounds damn skimpy, better be cheap.

Sleeping Dogs was amazing, one of the best games of the summer. Although this DLC announcement sounds lame and the story DLC better be cheap in price or it's pass for me.

Only 3 races? The races were too easy and the only way you could really mess up is either picking a crappy vehicle or missing a curve on your first attempt because you were unfamiliar with the race.

That DLC better be dirt cheap to justify having only 3 races.

@glenn2709 Good work man, i'm still playing through it so don't know the ending yet.  Have a pat on the back from me though for not ruining it for everyone else.  If only more folks took care! :)

No, Sleeping Dogs was great.  It was a bit short, but it was fun... unlike GTA IV.  It actually tried something new with being more about hand to hand combat than gunplay.  It was damn near an open world brawler.

I loved the crap out of SD and I pre-ordered it.  It was awesome enough to be in my forever collection.

@J-007 This game wasn't short at all unless you just rushed through it. Any game out is short if you just play the main quest and don't go into the side quests and stuff like that. I know I finished the game in a little under 30 hours and to me that's not short at all.

@DrKill09  @buccomatic Agree about sleeping dogs being great, but I can't agree with you stating it was better than GTA IV; GTA IV wasn't meant to be what Sleeping Dogs is.
