Skyrim PC update adds Legendary difficulty
New 1.9 title update for latest Elder Scrolls title also raises level cap, fixes bugs; scheduled for console launch this month.
Bethesda today released an update for the PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that adds a new Legendary difficulty and raises the game's level cap. The 1.9 title update is scheduled to hit consoles sometime later this month.
PC Skyrim players can opt in to the 1.9 beta by selecting the Beta tab from the Steam properties menu and choosing from the drop box.
Bethesda cautioned players to be sure to back up their saved games or be careful not to overwrite existing saves. Those who choose to opt out of the beta will find their saves intact and functional with the current Skyrim 1.8 version.
In addition to a new Legendary difficulty setting for Skyrim, title update 1.9 adds Legendary Skills.
"Skills of 100 can be made Legendary. This will reset the skill to 15, return its Perks and allow the skill to affect leveling again," Bethesda said. "This effectively removes the overall level cap."
The Skyrim 1.9 title update also fixes a range of bugs, including a rare instance when couriers appear only dressed in a hat. A full list of fixes and tweaks is available at Bethesda's website.
