Skyrim on sale for less than $10 right now on Xbox Live

The Elder Scrolls V available on the cheap right now as part of Microsoft's Ultimate Game Sale.

If you have never played Bethesda's award-winning open-world game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, now might be a good time to consider picking up a copy. The game is currently on sale for $9.89 on Xbox Live. That's a savings of 67 percent.

The Skyrim deal is part of Microsoft's Xbox 360 Ultimate Game Sale, which is now on its third day. Today's other deals (which you can get via your browser by clicking through the links in this story) are FIFA 14 ($30), Dead Island: Riptide ($15), Left 4 Dead ($5), Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker HD Edition ($4.94), Darksiders ($5), and Bejeweled 3 ($1.04).

Meanwhile, Sony is offering a pretty excellent suite of deals on many Rockstar Games titles for PlayStation 3, PSP, and PlayStation Vita as part of the Rockstar Games Sale. Some of the most notable deals include Red Dead Redemption for $7.50, Max Payne 3 for $5, and L.A. Noire for $7.50.

Skyrim is on sale but you will still get raped by the DLC prices.  This would actually be news if Skyrim Legendary edition was on sale for less than $10.

This is a great price however....... Microsoft youre late again, if this deal was in November-December 2013 that would be even great. Too bad retail store has yet again beat you to the punch.... physical copy is also $10 everywhere in Gamestop, Best Buy, Walmart...

I'm glad to see that Microsoft is trying to catch up to Sony in the digital sales.  I stopped going to the XBOX Live Marketplace for a long time because the prices of downloadable games was consistently much higher than acquiring the game from a local store or online.

Sony has been much better with those sales on the PlayStation, and now it seems that Microsoft is trying to keep up.  Hopefully the response to this week's sales will show them the advantages of offering significant price breaks on the games people want to play.

Actually ended up buying skyrim 3 times...

Once on xbox 360... but got an urge to build mods. Thus
Second time pc... (still playing)
third time Pc again... because it came with a book... and a shirt.

I'm hopeless ><

Or you could get a pc, and get the game with all the dlcs and mods for little above that and Left 4 Dead 2 for completely free.

Damn it. Came for the hope it will not say how much exactly. So I could say it would be $9.99.

But well, I would have been wrong for .10.

This just proves that the console industry will start becoming increasing more digital as this current generation proceeds.

YES! Finally, Microsoft and Sony trying to outbid each other on sales will only be a good thing.

Unfortunately Skyrim really fell short for me, so this is of no interest but I'm hopeful for what they can come up with in future.

Apparently the correct pronunciation is to rush it all into one syllable: "Skrim".

For all you Australians

The Sony PlayStation 4 is back in stock on the JB HiFi website.

Get in fast before they sell out again or you will have to wait on a new shipment!

Don't bother with buying the Xbox 720p

Decent deal, Had the reg edition then a friend got the Legendary Edition with all the DLC on disc, He let me borrow the DLC disc. I installed it and gave it back to him, now i have all the DLC for free.

Bummer, bought it a few months ago for $28 and haven't played it yet.

why cant modders be in AAA game developing teams...that would be awesome and random.

This game is still VERY good even without mods (including with a little patience the PS3 version) so if you lack PC then I'd still recommend it. Besides mods don't matter too much anyway. I've been playing Minecraft for months and I only started modding it last week. Though if I could choose any Elder Scrolls to play I would choose Oblivion.

If I didn't buy this for really cheap on Steam already, I would get this.  It is good to see them compete with things like the Steam sales more though.  Great buy.

DO NOT BUY IT. Seriously, do not buy it; it's a cheap hack. If you get the legendary edition you get the best deal. It is $40, but you don't end up spending $45 on the game on top of it's (misleading) $10 pricetag as it is.

That's right, guys. Get the legendary edition and don't get nickle and dimed on DLC. It's a marketing ploy to buy this 10 dollar version.

After discovering the PC version I doubt I'll ever really go to consoles in the future. The only one that draws interest for me anymore is Wii U because of all the exclusives. Otherwise ps4 and X1 don't really do much for me. Once either one allows mods though... then that might be a different story.

I use 4 Companions mod, Consoles can't done that. =p

Good price for a truly great game.  If you haven't played this game and don't have a decent PC, you should totally look into this.. 10 bucks for hundreds of hours of content should never be considered a "bad" thing.

got it for like 4 bucks on steam months ago.

@nazgoroth I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does this.  I've bought certain games multiple times for various reasons -- GOTY editions, portable versions, or even sometimes for the achievement points / trophies.

@Talavaj really? nice I missed it at xmas for free. where is it now?

@Flamerdragon Yeah, it's quite unusual to not have a price that ends with .99. Hmmm, intriguing.

@GH05T-666  or wait a year for some games to come out and hopefully a price drop. Not really happy about the extra $150 we have to fork over.

@emerin76 Glad to see I'm not the only one that does this. I swear sometimes i'm a game collector and not player. To many good games and not enough time.

@GregoryBastards  Because creating a game from scratch is a little different than building a small section of a game using pre-existing game items.

The ones who try 9 times out of 10 end up making a mess of it, or the mechanic or item was badly designed and it clips straight through your characters buttock or armour or something.

@exiled_paladin   Wrong, The regular edition of Skyrim was $7.49 on Steam. Both during the Autumn sale and the Holiday Sale Dec 25th. The legendary Edition on Steam even on sale was $20.39 then and still the same sale price last month. You've been playing the Reg Edition for $7.50 or you purposely worded your comment wrong to mislead.

@terrariafan247 true :) I mainly got the PC version because there is more workarounds for bugs and crashes.

speedfreak48t5p

@Radnen Step 1: Get this $10 version

Step 2: find a friend who has the legendary edition.

Step 3: Install the dlc for free

Step 4: Profit.

@bunchanumbers I doubt they will ever let mods on the consoles. They are so close to PC's now that the vast majority of games will come out on all three anyway so may as well get the better looking, better running and cheaper version that has mod options on the PC than the console ones.

theKSMM

@Triton @emerin76 I do this too for just the reason you mentioned -- not enough time for all the good games..and comic books...and movies...and sports...you get the idea.

But if I find a game on the cheap, I usually buy it because some games can be hard to find years later if you decide that you want to play them.  Sure, that's not as much of an issue now that we're going to digital downloads, but I still would rather pay $10 for a game today than $25 in two years.  :-p

GregoryBastards
GregoryBastards

@Dannystaples14  but youre not considering the fact that every AAA game model is worked on by like 50 or more people in a game like skyrim...also theyre getting paid...the things modders make are done mostly alone and also free....i think modders working in a controlled work space with free creative reins would bring wonderful results
