Skyrim Mod That Completely Overhauls Game Gets Release Date, Launch Trailer

It shouldn't even be called Skyrim at this point.

Bethesda recently announced that Skyrim is getting remastered for consoles and PC, but Skyrim modders refuse to be outdone: PC mods continue to change the game in pretty unbelievable ways, and one called Enderal--dubbed a "total conversion" mod--aims to make an entirely new experience on the Skyrim backbone. And you won't have to wait much longer to start playing it: the developers start rolling the German version out between July 1-3, and an English version arrives several weeks later.

Made by SureAI, a team of 14 based in Munich, Enderal provides essentially a new game for Skyrim fans to play. It has its own, distinct world with several different environments, fully voiced characters, a narrative, and a revamped leveling structure. Alongside the release date, SureAI also posted a launch trailer for the mod which you can watch below.

To play Enderal, you'll need a copy of Skyrim, but the DLC packs aren't necessary. Enderal is free to download, as well.

If SureAI sounds familiar, it's the same team that created a total conversion mod for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Nehrim. You can keep an eye on the Enderal website for download links when it becomes available.

As for the official game, the Skyrim remaster launches on October 28 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you are playing on PC and own the base game and the DLC expansions, this upgrade is free. In addition, the remaster will allow console players to use mods, so it's possible (although probably unlikely given the mod's size) that Enderal could come to PS4 and Xbox One. Recently, Bethesda VP Pete Hines stated that the developer is aiming to make the remaster as "next-gen as possible". Keep an eye on GameSpot for more about the remaster in the coming months.
