Skyrim Dragonborn DLC hits PS3, PC in early 2013

Latest expansion for Elder Scrolls V comes to new platforms sometime early next year; no word on past add-ons hitting PS3.

The Dragonborn expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will arrive on PlayStation 3 and PC during early 2013, publisher Bethesda confirmed today. The content will release tomorrow on Xbox Live for $20.

The Dragonborn expansion for Skyrim will be the first add-on to launch for the PS3 version of the game. Previously released expansions Dawnguard and Hearthfire have released on PC, but have been notably absent from Sony's platform.

It is not clear if Dawnguard or Hearthfire will ever be released for PS3. A Bethesda representative told GameSpot that Dragonborn is the company's current focus.

"Each platform takes a lot of time and attention, and we’re not done working on Skyrim content," A Bethesda representative said. "We’ll let everyone know when we have new details on content to share."

Numerous details concerning Skyrim's Dragonborn expansion have leaked, courtesy of a beta tester. For the full rundown of what to expect from the content, check out the spoiler-stuffed report.

I don't see why they have not made it all ready

First off what I don't get is what happened to the "dedicated team" that was suppose to handle fixing Dawnguard. I can only assume they gave up on that to fix Dragonborn and secondly  how in the world can they not fix Hearthfire. It the size of a small village in Skyrim compared to Dragonborn their most ambitious expansion yet and its half the size of Skyrim itself they can somehow fix. I believe there just getting our hopes up again.

All these Xbox players hating on the PS3 users for complaining. Well, I /am/ an Xbox player going to PS3. (Will have both in due time.) And let me tell you, as a fellow Xbox player. I too would be furious and or complaining if I had to wait months and months for a DLC when anothr console gets it before hand. I'd be  even more pissed to learn about the DLC's not being released to PS3 (Looks like Bugthesda has made their decision.) In addition, I do not partake in this childish console war, but seriously? Xbox players, step into their shoes for a second, how would you react to this bullshit? Now there are those that could care less. But my point stands nonetheless. P.S: I will not reply to any who decide to turn this into an argument. Debates to an extent are fine, as I like debates. But foolish arguments. {Arguments being the typical gamer response hating, and or the stupid console arguments. Opposed to debates; which is someone debating over my point. At least that is how it is for this post :P.}

TL;DR ? Essentially, quit hating on PS3 players about complaining, maybe step into their shoes for a second.Thank you. That is all.

I get the exclusivity thing when it comes to stand alone games, but not for DLC. That doesn't boost sales because people who are interested in the DLC are people who already got the game and those who played it on PS3 or PC won't buy a XBox just to play the DLC a month or two earlier. All they are doing is to annoy the non-XBox players for no financial gain. It makes no sense.

Another reason for me to sell the game. Their neglecting PS3.

Let me get this straight. Microsoft has 30 days exclusive rights. Sooo... why isn't it on the PC now? Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8..... Microsoft operating systems which is what most of us play PC games on. So let me rephrase that. Why isn't it already on the PC?!!! (Bangs head against wall)

lol most of stuff you get with this dlc is already available via mods.

Hey Eddie, I have a job for you. I heavily researched and found out, from the words of Todd Howard himself, that Microsoft had 30-day exclusivity only on the first two DLC and Dragonborn (unless I counted wrong) is number 3. I don't remember where I read it, and I researched this back when I first heard about the exclusivity back in August. Could you find out, for all us PC users, if Microsoft actually has rights to all the DLC or has Bethesda given up on their most faithful followers since Elder Scrolls Arena first came out on DOS in 1994.

Who cares I'm not buying something that everyone has been playing for months. Then we have to pay full price. No way it's over. Traded the game already because you took to long to bring out the DLC. Now I guess I'll wait on the next game.

Why do PC need this tho? I'm sure Gamespot showed you a Dragon riding Mod in the Skyrim Mods of the week? I'd be surprised if anyone with a PS3 still plays it.

Bethesda is a company of dreamers, conjuring up game concepts that are years ahead of their time. Unfortunately, this means that you may have to wait years before a Bethesda game is actually complete., as their ideas are more progressive than their programmers.

Bastards! They make us PC gamers wait even longer, I hope the content doesn't come to our platform full of errors and malfunctions.

Just another example in the LOOONG list of  Gamer Companies being managed and marketed by white collar imbeciles and not Gamers, or at least execs with GAMER Psyche. I am 41, probably the oldest in here...being playing games since the early days of Sinclair's Spectrum + ... whats happening lately with Bethesda, and their TOTAL arrogance against the gamer community  (i.e. the incompetence of releasing PS3 DLC and the guilty absence of not even a SINGLE HONEST word of apology) shows the way the execs feel about the community.... that their target group is only 15 old Clearasil "painted" teenagers... well Payback's a bitch guys...

I gave up on the PS3 version. Total freddie bullshields. I will only buy Bethesda games for PC in the future.

Too little too late. Well, maybe not too little, but it's a bit late for me.

Why should people moved on Video Game company's need to know that the consumers are in charge not them, If you make a multi platform game you need to deliver, and not tweet we're close or early next year.

I've got myself a brand new laptop. Graphic card isn't so great, but I think I can manage it to run Skyrim on low resolution.  I already own ps3 version of skyrim and I putted about close to 400hours on it, should I buy one for my  pc as well? Is all those mod created by skyrim users worth it to purchase the same game which I have played about 400hours?

20 dollars after all the bs? Ya, I don't think so bethesda. Glad I sold your game, Assassin Creed 3, Borderlands 2, Playstation All-Stars, all games that run fine on my ps3. Offer it at a discount andI might play it, but full price? Screw Off.

OddityInfinitas

Wow, PC gamers are really butthurt about it being delayed. FYI Bethesda is a company you should support, they put out great GOTY editions with DLC on disc. They are one of very few companies who do that sort of thing. They might not code the best but they make very FUN games, and try hard.

As many have already said it's too late. Too many good games out and coming out to play Skyrim anymore.

I think most PS3 and PC players moved on to better games. It was very obvious Bethseda was only caring about the 360.

Moved on already. If they would have released DLC months ago, I might have bought them. But yeah...too many games now. Sorry Bethesda. When Fallout 4 comes out, you can have my money again.

But... it will be out soon enough that it will still be half price for the spring Steam sale, right?  Works for me.

I guess if I had to choose which DLC i got for this game on PS3, this one definitely looks the coolest. I havent touched Skyrim for a while tho, but this might bring it back.

jcopp72

its been so long of waiting, I have moved on to other games and dont plan on comming back. At this point about the only thing that would bring me back is getting all the DLC to PS3 and offer a bundle discount.

Said it before I will say it again. Bethesda either delivers on ALL the DLC for the PS3 or Im not buying anymore of their games. I shouldnt be punished with an incomplete package because of what system I bought the game on.

@veteranvantage Because microsoft as a gaming company is more focused on Xbox than windows. Because microsoft gets huge licencing fees for software products sold for the xbox, and they don't for windows. It's business.

luis4800

@waddvenom You guys will probably get it one month later and PS3 players will still have to wait because Pete already tweeted that the PS3 version isn't done.

mosterslayer22

@walkdoog So in other words, you're impatient and promote day one DLC? It takes a long time for their DLC to come out because they're not money hungry DLC farmers, and when they release DLC, it's actually GOOD. Don't hate on a company for making DLC that's good after the game has come out. Instead, love them for continuing to make content for their games, and not doing it before releasing the game, just so they can charge extra for DLC a week or two after the game launches.

@Theo1971 You hit the nail on the head. Business Execs, business models, and such are ruining the gaming industry. Oh and I'm older than you at 45.

@OddityInfinitas This timed DLC crap is just that, crap. There is NO good reason to delay this for PC, other than pure greed and bending over for Microshaft. I will NOT be buying this when you finally condescend to release it for PC, because obviously money is the only thing you people care about anymore. Therefore, I will let my wallet speak for me. No money for you! Maybe then you will think twice before deciding to shaft PC players (you know, the guys that spent the money that BUILT your company in the first place, remember us?)

@Marcster1994 not PC gamers , I stil play skyrim more than any other games... the Mod support TES has simply makes the PC verson 10 times better than any other. Same will happen to the witcher series....

@svaubel so 300 hours of gameplay isn't a complete package but a 20 hour compaigne with 4 day one DLC is?

walkdoog

@mosterslayer22 I'm not impatient, the content is good but I am a PS3 player and the xbox has had plenty of DLC and I have to what this long for content. They need to upgrade their machinery so that we can get the content when everyone else gets it not months later. I have done just about everything in skyrim month's ago and I still have to wait longer for the DLC and they haven't made much content for the PS3. period

...huh? I'm just excited about a DLC.

How many guys have I heard say "this man is a waiting for it" but I can't say "this GIRL?" Should I say "this one"?

Since when is it so harmful to announce my own sex? This is crazy. Your comment is far more harmful to the cause then my own, thanks. :P

luis4800
luis4800

@lupodirosso I'm sorry for being an ahole but I just finished playing COD and their was fifteen women with their clan tag saying GIRL it's just a pet peeve of mine. It's like everywhere I go gaming wise women always have to say their gender, because their is not a lot of them. And if a guy ever said that "this man is waiting for it" he will be severely beaten. LOL , JK. i never have heard that though.
