Skylanders Swap Force Wii U bundle revealed

$300 bundle includes 8GB Basic system, Starter Pack, and Nintendo Land.

In the lead-up to the holiday shopping season, Nintendo today announced an all-new Wii U bundle featuring Activision's Skylanders Swap Force.

Launching November 15 for $300, the bundle includes a white 8GB Wii U Basic system, a Skylanders Swap Force Starter Pack (featuring the game, a Portal of Power, and three Skylanders figures), and a copy of Nintendo Land.

A collector poster, trading cards, and sticker sheets are also included. Nintendo discontinued the 8GB Basic Wii U model for general availability in September.

The Skylanders Swap Force Wii U bundle is not the only bundle Nintendo will offer this holiday. Earlier this week, Nintendo announced a new 32GB Wii U pack that will include New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U for $300. In addition, a special Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD bundle is currently available for $300.

Skylanders Swap Force is the latest entry in Activision's $1.5 billion toys-to-life series and was released earlier this month on Wii U, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, and 3DS. The game allows players to mix and match the top and bottom halves of 16 characters, for a total of more than 250 combinations. All toys from the original Skylanders and Skylanders Giants are compatible with Skylanders Swap Force.

The Wii U version of Skylanders Swap Force supports off-screen play, allowing users to play the entire game on the GamePad.

Dammit, Eddie!  What the hell is a Sklander?  "Look at me, I'm Eddie Makuch!  Proofreading is the hardest thing in the world!  Why should I be bothered to take an extra five seconds to look at the headline of the article that I just submitted?"

Excellent to use up the recalled 8GB Wii U stock by repackaged them in bundles with Skylanders game sets with 2 pack in games. The skylander swap game and Nintendo land.

This is good as the Wii U 8GB model Flash memory is too small to install Nintendoland if it was the download version. A $300.00 bundle like this is great for people to buy for there kids for Christmas.

Nintendo could also create a Wii U 8GB Bundle with Wii fit U the balance board The Wii Fit U game, the meter To sell at the launch of Wii fit U

priced at $300.00 this could use up the rest of the recalled 8GB Wii U stock.

This news feed guy, I swear, gottah be the worst in gamespot.  Troll bait after troll bait, then the website asks why are we so trolly?

Good one eddie, your bad at your job.  Then again your job is acquiring hits, so then again you're pretty good at that.  You just have no integrity.

Considering the franchise is largely aimed at children, the 8GB Wii U should do just fine.

I'd rather have the black system, but this is a deal to consider since I love Skylanders and was planning to get a Wii U anyway.

I saw the typo in the headline and said to myself, "Oh this has to be Eddie."

Don't care for skylanders but the Wii U looks nice in white. Glad I can still buy it in that color.

Though I wish they'd just phase the 8GB model out completely this is a really good deal and should sell well for Christmas.

Funny thing I found out.  The last 2 Skylanders games sold well on the Wii. Why? Well that's the system a lot of parents bought for their kids because kids don't care about tech specs and maybe that's what Nintendo is for given most other companies don't seem that interested in making something worthwhile and entertaining for kids.  I'll give Sony credit for a least making some effort with stuff like Little Big Planet  and suchbut despite what haters say, kids do matter as a gaming demographic and it would be nice if a company besides Nintendo made a genuine attempt and making decent games for kids instead of half assed games based on Nicktoons.  I agree with the nostalgia critic that just because its geared at kids isn't an excuse for not trying.

So for me, if the Wii and WiiU are the "kids consoles" what's so wrong with that?  You got your PC and PS4 and Xboner to play all your big boy M rated games and you can plop your kids in front of the WiiU to play Skylanders and Mario so they can babysit your kids while your off teabagging in CoD.

hmmm lots of bundles coming for the Wii U, but the only good one I see is the Zelda bundle in my opinion. Mostly due to the art design on the gamepad

@Megamandrew Is it a another attempt to attract clicks by making people comment about it? I think typos are mostly fun, but also a bit annoying to see. So Eddie, here's a heads up about the headline.

@BradBurns

I originally wanted the white but considering everything that came with the black model, I had to pick that one up instead :P

@BradBurns I wonder if we'll get WiiUs in various colors like the 3DS.  I wouldn't mind the dark purple so I'd have a matching set. :P

@kbaily I have children myself, and it's hard to find games on the other systems that are not only appropriate  for their age group, but also fun to play. The junk that gets passed off as kids games on the other systems, for the most part are crappy liscensed money grabs. Almost all Nintendo 1st party games are family friendly and I actually enjoy them as well. Sure Sony and MS have had a few good family friendly games, but they are few and far between. I know that if I buy the next Mario or Donkey Kong, a couple of N's biggest franchises that my kids can play it too. I can't say that for Uncharted, God of War, or Halo. Don't get me wrong I love Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter and Ratchet. I play them all, but sometimes I want to play with my kids and that's what Nintendo has always been great for.

I would also like to add that I don't consider Nintendo's consoles so much kiddy as Family friendly. Just look at how many older people that didn't play games before have a Wii now. My mother bought one after playing Wii sports at my house and plays wii bowling all the time.

@jd7904 Totally agree with you there. I don't have kids yet myself but I have younger nephews and I've always considered Nintendo like Disney or Pixar for video games. Last time we visited, we broke out Mario Party 9 and Smash Bros. Brawl and had a good time.  I will say we've also played PS All Stars for a change of pace but it does lack a lot of the charm of the game it was trying to imitate. And if Nintendo wants to be the "family" system with kid friendly games, why should anyone have a problem with that?  Oh wait, it's the internet.
