Singapore's Licence2Play 2012 set for this weekend

Video game event to feature Blizzard and Wargaming.net as primary exhibitors; new MMORPG announcement expected from Asiasoft.

Singapore's Licence2Play 2012 video game convention kicks off this weekend, with Blizzard, Asiasoft, Shanda, and Wargaming all showing off some of their titles this weekend from December 7 to 11.

The event will be held at the Marina Sands Expo & Convention Centre. Key exhibitors in the event include Blizzard Entertainment and Wargaming.net. Highlights from the former's booth include Korean professional StarCraft II gamer Kim Ga Young (StarTale Aphrodite), demos for StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, and local DJs doing remixes on Diablo III music tracks.

Wargaming.net will be showing off a demo of World of Planes, as well as have World of Tanks on display. Telecommunications company StarHub and Online EClub will be hosting a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament, while Singapore newspaper Straits Times Digital Life will be organizing a King of Shooters tournament featuring Halo 4, Blackshot, and Alliance of Valiant Arms. Winners will get prizes worth more than S$10,000.

The Singapore Esports League will be hosting a tournament at the event, featuring games such as Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and FIFA 13.

Asiasoft will be announcing a new MMORPG under its wing for Singapore and Malaysian release. According to a recent financial report from developer Gravity Corp. and recent news from MMOsite.com, the game may most likely be Ragnarok Online 2. The game is the direct sequel to the popular online Korean MMO Ragnarok Online.
