With more than 58 million units moved, the people behind The Sims franchise know a thing or two about a successful business. Using their entrepreneurial know-how, Electronic Arts today announced that the latest expansion for The Sims 2, Open for Business, has shipped to stores. The pack is the third for the life-simulator sequel, following the collegiate-themed University and hedonistic Nightlife.

As the expansion's name implies, Open for Business lets gamers take their Sims out of their homes and off to work. A variety of commercial business options are available for users, such as opening a restaurant or a clothing store, all in the name of making some serious simoleans.

As with their homes, players will be able to create their store's layout and will have more than 125 new items with which to do so. As manager, the Sims will be responsible for not only hiring employees, but also handing out pink slips and setting prices for their wares.

The Sims 2 Open for Business is rated T for Teen and retails for $34.99. To see if The Sims 2 Open for Business is a good deal or destined for liquidation, check back later this week for GameSpot's full review, or check out our previous coverage.
