The Sims sensation is one step closer to claiming another victim today. Electronic Arts has announced that The Sims 2 has shipped for the PSP, the first Sims game for the platform, and will be available nationwide December 9. The game is the latest addition to a franchise that has already sold almost 60 million units.

The Sims 2 for the PSP is based on the PC edition, which expands on the simpler formula of "take a shower, go to the bathroom, go to work" from the original The Sims. Gamers will be able to explore five new neighborhoods, discover 20 unique locations, and interact with several items exclusive to the PSP version.

The Sims 2 for the PSP is rated T for Teen and retails for $49.99. For more Sims 2 info, check out a review of the PC version, or check back later this week to see how it stacks up on the PSP.
