Shrapnel Games has announced a deal with BreakAway Games to publish the wargame series The Greatest Battles. BreakAway is best known for creating strategy games and expansions such as Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom. The first game to be released under the agreement with Shrapnel will be Austerlitz: Napoleon's Greatest Victory, which is scheduled for release in early June.

Austerlitz: Napoleon's Greatest Victory was originally based on the Sid Meier's Gettysburg game engine. It features three armies, the French, Russian, and Austrian, and more than 25 scenarios based on both historical and speculative situations. The game also features a random battle generator and support for up to eight players on a LAN or Internet connection.

"We are truly excited to have BreakAway on board," said Tim Brooks, president of Shrapnel Games. "This is the first major development house to say that there is more money to be made in Internet-only sales than in the retail market. We are looking forward to a long and profitable relationship with BreakAway."
