During The Game Awards 2016 tonight, Yacht Club Games officially announced a new Shovel Knight game, Specter of Torment. It is a prequel to the 2014 original. And, like that game, it's a 2D side-scroller. It's due out in Spring 2017, and you can watch a trailer for the game here.

The original Shovel Knight was funded on Kickstarter, having raised $310,000 in 2013 to make the game a reality. One of the most acclaimed games of 2014, Shovel Knight is available for consoles and PC, though no mention of platforms for the prequel was provided.
