Although it had been well received in the arcades, Blitz 99 never made it onto the PC platform, as the original Blitz game did. So gamers who've been yearning for more of the Blitz franchise's in-your-face action and ultra-violent form of football will be glad to hear that Blitz 2000 is now available.

"The overwhelming success of the NFL Blitz franchise made our decision to publish and distribute the PC version an easy one,'' said Laddie Ervin, Infogrames director of marketing for sports and racing. "NFL Blitz 2000 is an outstanding PC title, and it will be a strong complement to our growing line of sports titles.''

Giving up to four players the ability to play simultaneously, and featuring a custom play editor and a practice mode, Blitz 2000 for the PC is an arcade-perfect translation. The game, developed by Point of View and published by Midway and Infogrames, is available now for around US$29.95. A 3dfx or Direct3D-compliant video card is not required, but certainly recommended.
