Shippin' Out January 15-19: Buurnnning Cruuusade!

WOW expansion hits shelves, social lives hit skids; also out this week: wacky Wii WarioWare, another case for Phoenix Wright, March Madness in January.

A new strain of an addictive diversion has hit the streets, and gamers all over the US are locking themselves in dark rooms, cutting off communications with loved ones, and staring bleary-eyed, getting their fix. The diversion in question is, of course, World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, the first expansion to Blizzard's PC MMMMMORPG (massive money-making, massively multiplayer online role-playing game) World of Warcraft.

The Burning Crusade hit some shelves at the stroke of midnight last night, and if the crowds spotted across the globe in the US, UK, and Australia are any indication, Blizzard has another hit on its hands. The add-on introduces the Outworld, a level cap of 70, two new playable races, and more.

The game's collector's edition sold out long ago, but those who must have the exclusive in-game pet that comes with it can pay the price on eBay. The Burning Crusade costs $39.99, requires the original World of Warcraft to play, and needs an active World of Warcraft subscription ($14.99 per month).

WarioWare: Colorful, trippy fun for all ages.

Those not interested in firing round after round of lightning bolts in the fictional world of Azeroth can instead compete in round after round of lightning-quick minigames in the bizarre world of Nintendo. WarioWare: Smooth Moves for the Wii was released on Monday, bringing more than 200 minigames specifically designed with the motion-sensitive Wii Remote in mind. Many of the bizarre collection of vignettes feature Nintendo properties, such as Star Fox and Mario, as their subjects.

Capcom's Phoenix Wright returns to court this week with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice for All for the Nintendo DS. As Wright, gamers will participate in four new cases, checking out crime scenes, cross-examining witnesses, and engaging in other legal matters. New this go around include a life bar for Wright and a "Psyche-Lock" feature--Phoenix must break down witnesses by asking several correct questions in a row.

Authentic five-communications-majors-on-five-communications-majors action.

Gamers who object to anime-style courtroom dramas can try their hand at a game based on one of sport's most popular events. NCAA March Madness 07 from Electronic Arts simulates the college basketball season on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2. Those who take the court will be treated to two new focuses in this year's edition of the game--school tradition and school pride.

This week's new releases are listed below (list taken from retailer information--actual dates may vary).

giraffepancakes Don't read my post then... Dot's are my friend... I love them... OK... :P WOW is getting a little better for the solo gamer. But I'm sure it will revert back to it's old state of nothing but 40 man raid instances and huge guilds.

lol someone was complaining about the $50 a year for xbox live and how ps3 is free. Open your eyes xbox live has a lot and a lot more to offer then the ps3 online. the ps3 online is just like the ps2 online they both suck. Then there is this one person who must not know what a good game is and said wow is better then any game on the 360 i could name so many games that are better here i will name one oblivion no online, but still the best. then there is cod2 and 3 as well as dead rising and of course gears of war i could go on.

Too bad people on WOW are a bunch of whining jerks! All of my friends who play WOW are completely turned off by it now because people don't know how to play without being a jackazz. We have all converted to FFXI, which albeit a much slower game, it actually a better game than WOW.

death919 I don't find raiding for several hours ( 4-8 )... Fun... 15-30 Mins waiting to loot 1 boss. They took the game away from the solo gamer and gave it to the gamers that have large guilds... Huge amounts of time to waste... Even the upgrade to the tier 0 sets... You need highly skilled and equipped players to even complete the last few parts. They took dungeons out of the equation. It's all about PVP now... For the lone solo gamer... Thats the best move they did. Now they need to fix there PVP system... Because at it is right now... It's based on luck... You can end up getting zero honor for an hours wait because of an already started BG. This game didn't even keep me hooked for 2 years like other MMORPG's I played before. Less then a year I was thinking of quiting... But I didn't I leveled every class in the game to 60... It all ended the same... BC looks no different.

Adeath919: I TOTALLY AGREE!!! WOW BC RULEZ!!!

death919

WOOOOT! :D BC is here, and it's totally awesome! Just spent the last 8 horus playing, totally crazy! I'm almost halfway to lvl 61. :D It's so much fun!!! :D Can't wait to start playing more after my exams next week. @ truth_hurts_u: The end game in WoW is funner than the lvling up part. :D I spent tons of hours as a lvl 60, having such a great time, more fun than 1-59. At 70, they're not giving you controlable water vehicles, but they're giving you controlable air vehicles (flying mounts), which is 100x better IMO. :D And lvl 70 will be awesome because there will be a ton of new stuff, new instances, new raids, new BGs, always adding new content. :D And even if you consider that to be the same thing as lvl 60, well, I say good, because lvl 60 in the original WoW was some of the most fun I've ever had in a video game, and I hope (and know) that 70 will be just as fun. :D (and no, it won't take 3-4 days played, because I've played for 8 hours so far and am just over a third of the way through lvl 60). @ Psychotix666: WoW is bigger, longer, and funner than every good xbox live game put together. :D

LOL... Gamespot is like total WOW Fanboi central.

Truth_Hurts_U

Leveling from 60-70 will take around 3-4 days played... Thats counting all the hours for each level. So when you hit 70... What do you do... Well you do the same thing you did at level 60... YAY! Not... Boring... Give me player housing. Give me Hero classes. Give me contorllable boats... Give me something different... Not more of the same please.

My store got in 600 copies, had 360 preorders. When I got there at about 4:45 ish to see if I could buy copies for my boyfriend & my friend , there were about 60 copies left. Just goes to prove how popular it is. But I'm all about getting my hands on Wario.

Burning Crusade is fun! Huge amount of content. Get your 2 cents in haters, it's no bother. The game is great no matter how popular it gets. Phoenix Wright 2 will be mine as well in the near future. Pretty decent week for releases considering it's the middle of January.

man another wow when will they stop and to think it only adds 10 levels then what the hell are you paying $39.99 for oh yea and two new races. $14.99 a month for this garbage i guess some people just have no lives. Thats probably why south park was making fun of it i mean granted they make fun of a lot of things, but that episode went off.

Psychotix666
Psychotix666

"14.99 is such a rip off for Wow. It makes you wonder how people complain about Xbox Live..." amen...at least xbox live is a service and you get a lot more than online play for only one game. The wow subscription is just for the game, and nothing more. If the cost for wow would be extremely cheaper, it would possibly consider. But with XBL its hard to decide, seeing as Halo 3 and other great looking games will be out later this year for the 360.
