There comes a point when all gamers must ask themselves, "How many pewter statues do I really need?" Ubisoft has ostensibly reached that quandary with Shaun White Snowboarding. Today, the publisher announced that it has partnered with Shaun White-sponsor Target on a special edition of the game available only at the retail chain that includes exclusive access to the in-game Target Mountain boarding area.

Along with the mountain, which brings the total number of scalable slopes to five, those who purchase the Shaun White Snowboarding Target edition will gain access to bonus moves, characters, and scenery. Capping off the bundle, the Target edition will include Target Chalet, "the real-life mountainside home where Shaun and his fellow Target athletes hang out with friends and family at the annual Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado."

The Target-exclusive special edition is just one part of Ubisoft's strategy of getting gamers to hit the slopes alongside White. This week, BrandWeek revealed that Ubisoft plans to spend $10 million in marketing the game. As part of the substantial marketing spend, reports that Ubisoft has purchased all of the commercial airtime during the first two episodes of this season of Comedy Central's South Park. For South Park's October 8 premiere, Ubisoft will be filling the commercial breaks with two-minute promos of Shaun White Snowboarding, the upcoming Prince of Persia, and FarCry 2. Episode two will feature ads devoted exclusively to Shaun White, according to the magazine.

The Target edition of the game will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii. GameSpot has confirmed with Ubisoft that the special edition will carry a $5 premium over the standard edition of the game, clocking in at $64.99 for the 360 and PS3 editions of the game, with the Wii version running for $54.99.
