No Caption Provided The heat is on today, not only outdoors but also in Sony's virtual storefront. New content added to the PlayStation Network today includes a bloody hack-and-slash title, downloadable content for 2K's period shooter, a new 3D Motorstorm game, and more.

Leading the pack is Klei Entertainment's Shank ($15). The 2D action game sports a graphic-novel-like visual approach and gore in abundance. The sanguineous adventure casts players as Shank, a man betrayed and left to die. As Shank, players will fight through varied levels, unlock new melee and ranged weapons along the way, and meet distinct bosses at the climax of each stage.

2K Games' Mafia II went on sale today at retail, and those who picked up the game new can now download the PS3-exclusive Betrayal of Jimmy add-on content for free. Those who purchase a used copy can download it for $9.99. Unlike the game's single-player campaign, the DLC casts players as Jimmy, a proven and terrifying mobster, and shows players the arcade side of Mafia II. Players will rack up points for drifting, high-speed driving, headshots, kill combos, and more.

Also being released today is Motorstorm 3D Rift ($9.99). The 3D title features 10 tracks from Motorstorm Pacific Rift, including Kanaloa Bay and Caldera Ridge. Players can sit behind the wheel of an assortment of off-road vehicles, including bikes, buggies, racing trucks, and monster trucks. The title is also playable in standard viewing capacity, so those without a 3D television can download and play the title.

A less realistic racing game arriving on the PS3 storefront today is PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap ($6.99). The slot car racing title features single- and multiplayer, where players can race and see where they rank on the online leaderboards. The game comes with 32 distinct race modes and is free for owners of PixelJunk Racers.

For the game show fan, Sony added Press Your Luck ($9.99) to the PS3 download store today. The game, like the TV show, lets up to three players take part in rounds of trivia sessions. The game supports both local and online multiplayer via the PlayStation Network.

Switching to the PSP download spot, Sony added Zuma ($9.99) to its store today. A port of the PS3 title, the match-three action puzzler casts players as a frog idol attempting to thwart an onslaught of balls rolling across the screen.

On the mini front, Sony added just one small-scale title to its virtual storefront today, Arcade Air Hockey & Bowling ($3.99). As its name suggests, the title lets players take part in the pleasure-time activities bowling and air hockey in the palm of their hands or on their PS3s.

Sony added two new demos today, the first of which is for Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2. Japan received the demo for the title in July, but now it's time for North Americans to have a first look at the forthcoming title.

The other demo dropping today is for Alien Breed: Impact. The sampler gives players a look and feel for the sci-fi arcade shooter set in a world overrun with aliens.
