Sony announced today that the PlayStation Network will undergo routine maintenance on Monday, October 13, for a period of around seven hours. It's currently scheduled to take place on that day from 10 AM to 5 PM PDT.

"During this time we will deploy a series of back-end improvements to the network," Sony wrote on its website on Thursday.

If you've signed into the PSN since October 8 you will be able to play PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita games online and access entertainment apps like Netflix during the maintenance period. However, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, and Account Management will be offline.

"We thank you for your patience and support and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," Sony said.

After six years of continued support, Sony announced plans in September to shutter PlayStation Home. The service will be taken offline early next year in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
